'Who The F*ck Is Paul McCartney?' Funny Or Die Rips Twitter Ignorance With History Channel Spoof (VIDEO)

Paul Mccartney

Like most coherent adults, we were shocked during the 54th annual Grammy Awards last Sunday when an alarming amount of people took to Twitter to ask one question: "Who The F*ck Is Paul McCartney?".

The aloof tweets, presumably from non-Beatles fans born after 1990, were funny enough on their own. But now, Funny Or Die has used them to put together a Ken Burns-style documentary short about the mysterious, old, white man's life.

And it's pretty great.

It covers his early life, from when he was born "Sirpaul McCartney" in the 1930s, probably in Europe or something, to his career highlights, including a guest spot on "The Simpsons," his fathering of "well-known celebrity" Jesse McCartney and of course, his big break at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards.

One thing is for sure: he's no "Lil' B" from The Pack. Now THAT'S a musician.

I'm willing to bet all those tweets were from dubstep fans. Seriously, 99% of them are "bag of hammers" dumb...

Ahhhh, the new generations, dumber than ever, uncultured and 'almost' ready to take over and rule our world for years to come. Frightening, isn't it?

I believe the point is the inference that this generation is willfully ignorant of the past, instead of sheepishly ignorant.

It's actually worse than ever. Shallow, narcissistic and disengaged from ethics, morals and manners. I'm a Lib and I'm worried!

An added note.... I guess we are all missing out on great talents because of the generation gap
06:33 AM on 02/21/2012
As a huge Beatles fan back in the day, I now say " Who the F--- are they" to almost all of the popular musicians of this generation, so I guess we're even.

I was born in 1984. I don't know who the f all these famous pop stars are now but I know who Paul McCartney is! I've seen him twice. One of the greatest song writers living today and one of the best musicians of all time. The dude was laying down awesome vocals long before auto tune!

Autotune doesn't help one's vocal waveforms. In fact, it's there to offset bad vocal waveforms. It's an unfortunate side of DSP research where someone thought it was cool to have a twist on Chip n Dale the cartoon and apply it to pop music.

Old people fade in the minds of the young. Even if you're a Beatle. Welcome to reality.

I don't understand why someone would post an update saying " who is ____." Why don't they type that exact phrase into google and find out.

Paul McCartney will be 70 years old this year. Think about it folks. And every new generation of humans born "discover" the music of the Beatles. Every bit as fresh as it was then. I used to laugh when people excused the Beatles by saying they were of "their time." They were, but it was obvious that they, like Shakespeare, were" for all times." I am just thankful to have seen them on an NBC network news broadcast late in 1963 . It was a report from their correspondent in London talking about a strange phenomenon sweeping the UK. Something called Beatlemania.

You are absolutely right. They are timeless. They were long broken up and John was dead before I ever existed.

i remember the day lennon was killed. i was ten and it's still the worst-feeling day i can remember, even now having experienced other tragic days in history. it just was so wrong on every level. RIP george and john.

Don't get me wrong most of em were amazing, but come on really?

Paul just said he had stopped.
10:49 AM on 02/22/2012
That's correct, Apollo. He said he stopped for his young daughter. Nothing wrong with that, different times.
