Chelsea Clinton Renewing NBC News Contract: Reports

Chelsea Clinton is set to renew her contract with NBC News, according to multiple reports.

The New York Post and the Washington Post's Erik Wemple both reported Friday night that Clinton — who initially signed a 90-day contract with the network in November — will re-up with NBC. Clinton has so far produced two reports for "Rock Center," and sources told the Post that it will likely remain her main television home when she re-signs.

There had been rumors that she would split from NBC after her contract was up.

Of course, that won't stop critics from questioning Clinton's journalistic chops, as they did from the moment she joined NBC News. Her latest report for the network, which aired on Wednesday's "Rock Center," received more scathing reviews, with Baltimore Sun critic David Zurawik calling it "one-dimensional, under-reported [and] naive."

Placing her on this show would be like putting her on the LPGA tour
(ladies profession golf). She unqualified and she should embarrassed for taking a job away from someone talented simply because of her last name.
Put her on Dancing with the Stars and be done with it.

Just watched Chelsea Clinton's report on NBC and while she is obviously a bright young woman, she lacks a presence on camera and her voice falls too flat. It begs the question as to what audience Ms. Clinton appeals to? She is too old and a bit conservative for the under 30 crowd that doesn't even watch MSM news programs. Perhaps she does have a soft spoken and non-threatening appeal to women 55+. I think the whole issue highlights the direction of MSM news in general and why it is quickly becoming a lagging and tired medium for information.

I like Chelsea but she has no charisma on her segments and really should not be on network tv. And the late Tim Russerts son should not be on NBC either. They both should have done the new york affiliates first then the Today show, isnt that how it works. Everyone else did it why cant they?
