Jimmy Fallon's 'Night News Now': 'Late Night' Introduces 'Weekend Update'-Style News Segment (VIDEO)

WATCH: Fallon Introduces 'Weekend Update' Style News Segment

Perhaps seeing fellow "Saturday Night Live" alum Maya Rudolph heading back to studio 8H to host this weekend made Jimmy Fallon a little nostalgic for his "Weekend Update" days, because on Friday night's "Late Night," he premiered a new news segment that feels oddly familiar.

"Night News Now" is Fallon and the "Late Night" crew's foray into fake news, with Fallon donning a special blazer and delivering news briefs (with an emphasis on the brief) at his desk.

But it's also so much more than that. Cramming the traditional newsdesk bits along with a comic's understanding of "Sports," a "Tick Tock Tech Talk," a "Traffic Chopter" report, a "Dateline"-style video feature about a bad smell in the office AND a roundtable political discussion into just a few minutes is pretty impressive.

We think you'll find it's much sillier than "Weekend Update" and occasionally as deadpan as "The Onion News Network," but it's definitely something different, too. Tell us what you think of this new and hopefully recurring segment in the comments.
