Long Island Serial Killer? Another Body Found In Woods Near Manorville

Long Island Body Found

02/18/12 04:08 PM ET  AP

MANORVILLE, N.Y. -- Another human skeleton has turned up in a wooded area on the eastern end of Long Island, in a town where at least four other sets of human remains have been discovered in recent years.

The latest set of bones was discovered at around 6:30 p.m. Friday in a pine barrens in Manorville. A resident of the town, Matt Samuel, said he was walking through the area with his dog when he made the find.

"I probably walked by it a hundred times before, and I saw it kind of sticking out of the ground, and it looked unusual. I looked a little closer and from there discovered that it was human remains," he said, adding that it looked like the body had decomposed many years ago. "It was wrapped in bed sheets and a plastic bag, It was a whole body, but just the bones, there was trees growing up through it, so it has been there a long time."

Suffolk County Police said the undergrowth suggested the body had been dumped about five years ago, but an anthropologist was being brought in to examine the site. The age, gender and identity of the person were unknown.

The body adds to a growing list of unsolved mysteries involving corpses found in the town, some of which lies within the Long Island Central Pine Barrens, a protected forest that is one of the wilder areas on the heavily suburban island.

Between 2000 and 2003, four bodies were discovered in the town's forests. Two were men, found not far from the site of Friday's discovery, near where the Long Island Expressway cuts through the town. They have never been identified.

Two others were women who had been beheaded and dismembered, possibly by the same mass murderer.

Their heads and other parts of their bodies were discovered last spring when police on the trail of a suspected serial killer searched a long stretch of beach highway on a barrier island 45 miles to the west. That search also turned up eight other corpses, several of which belonged to missing prostitutes. Others remain unidentified, and police are still unsure how many of the killings are related. Investigators also discovered the body of an 11th person on the same stretch of barrier islands in December, but have said they believe that woman, also a missing prostitute, drowned accidentally.

One of the women whose remains were partly found in Manorville has been identified as Jessica Taylor, 20, of New York City. Her torso was found about four miles from the site of Friday's discovery.

Suffolk County Deputy Inspector Kevin Fallon told reporters Saturday that it was too early to tell whether the new skeleton is related to any of those other cases.

I think that the killer is a local guy. I think it is the women in his life who will turn him in. He is a woman hater, who has a long line of women that he has hurt. I believe that there are women out there who have seen him anger and rage. He charms women and then he treats them in sadistic ways. He watches porn, maybe even likes to record you when he and you are together. He talks about how women have treated him bad and done him wrong, but there is something about this man. He goes too far. He spouts crazy theories and says things that are so outrageous I think people think he can't possibly mean it! Get on the case women!

i believe you are right this man believes he is doing the world a favor by cleaning up the world but mostly he wanted to drive these women from coming into his area and plying their trade and so basically he looks on this as ridding his world of this kind of sin.

I watched the documentary on this and yeah, it is pretty crazy. The show said that they tracked his cell phone usage to Time Square and that they had cameras all over, but with over 1000 people on cell phones they couldn't pinpoint the person who was making the call. So from the way it seems to be going down, contacting hookers on Craigslist in NYC and then dumping the bodies in LI. And if you watched the entire docu, at the very end they say that there was a lady, an ex-wife that said that she could not account for her husband at the time on any of the days of abduction and added to that , that he had a very elaborate basement that he was incredibly protective over, if I remember right. So technically, you guys are right and wrong. NYPD are responsible for where the abductions and murders are taking place and LI are responsible for where the bodies are being found.

There were children here (one at least, I'm not up on my facts), a man; a woman's remains, and her remains had previously been found at a crime site many, many years ago. That's what I mean.

Turns out his older brother is a Freeport Village police officer. Being a police officer you would think he would know not to bring others to a possible crime scene and to alert Manorville Police about his brothers find and to advise his brother not to give interviews describing the scene. I wonder how LE feels about that.

"He went home, called his older brother and a cousin and a friend. The four of them returned to the site with a flashlight. They saw the outline of a body seemingly face up, with a foot-high blueberry bush growing through it.

“We saw the pelvis bones sticking out,” said Mr. Samuel.

The body, partly buried, was wrapped in a worn bedsheet. The sheet appeared to be covered in a black plastic garbage bag and wrapped with duct tape. Mr. Samuel did not see shoes. “I think it was barefoot,” he said.

This is the work of a cop, there is no way one killer can outwit a team of detectives for this long without having some knowledge of how they investigate homicides.

From the sound of this case it looks like they are years away from catching this person.

When will they catch him already!

It's time to develop that stretch of land .... at least the killer(s) will have to find a different dumping ground for their victims.

Ya' gotta say there is great sand on Long Island.

There is (are) a killer(s) at large who needs to be found. It is scary to keep life together when these murderers are on the loose.

I lived in that area around the time they started discovering the bodies. Creepy especially considering the women tended to be the same height/weight as me w/brown hair.
It's really not a desolate area,I lived in a big apartment complex there, but it's funny how many residents, even life-long like my former boyfriend, are unaware of the network of hiking trails and the density of the woods in some areas. I joined a local hiking club.
I got the impression that they thought they found the killer, some young guy on the NShore who lived w/his mom, which wasn't who I envisioned.
I've envisioned a 30s guy w/a van who worked in the carpet laying biz towards Patchogue. Sometimes my visions are good, sometimes they are way out there.
Anyways, I've been in Fla now for a number of years.. buh bye

Profound, but that's not why I moved. But for what it's worth, dozens of unsolved murders haven't been popping up in my area.

I am a remote viewer. This was done by a white male in his thirties who is the desk clerk of a motel. That motel sits beside a state highway that was bypassed years ago by an Interstate. His hobby is taxidermy and he lived with his mother in an imposing old victorian house behind the motel.
