The Cosby Obama Show On 'SNL' Featuring Joe Jamal-Biden (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 02/19/2012 12:27 pm Updated: 02/19/2012 12:30 pm

Cosby Obama

As the only "SNL" cast member to have ever played Michelle Obama, we just knew Maya Rudolph would be spoofing the First Lady when she hosted the show this weekend - but we definitely didn't see this coming.

Both the classic intro and set of "The Cosby Show" are parodied to perfection in this sketch, wherein Michelle Obama introduces us to her latest commitment to fighting childhood obesity: a sitcom starring her family, their secret service agents and Joe Jamal-Biden.

Obviously, Joe Jamal-Biden is the biggest highlight. We're not sure how he became the Obamas' son, but his sweater and goofy dancing pretty much steal the show. Fred Armisen pulls double duty as Barack Obama and Bill Cosby, and you can tell he probably spent a good chunk of time getting Cosby's facial expressions just right. If so, it was definitely worth it.

Watch the full sketch above.

It wasn't the full sketch. They cut off the best part -- the ending with Hilary

SNL needs to do a parody of how the show used to be both clever and cutting edge, as opposed to now when it's just 90 minutes of low quality high school skits...

Wait a minute because I criticized SNL for not having a dark skinned Black woman portray First Lady Michelle Obama and a few other contributors agreed, my comment was removed.Nothing against Maya Rudolph but there are other Black actresses who are more suitable. Does Huff Po object to SNL being criticized with some truths they don't like to hear.
12:21 PM on 02/20/2012
I guess its because those other dark-skinned black actresses didnt happen to be hosting SNL last weekend ?

Hosting is not the same as being a regular skit member. Learn the difference.

This is the second time that Maya has played Michelle. She wasn't hosting the first time. They brought her in for it. Any other time, they just put one of the black men in a dress and call him a black woman. Which I find offensive and is why I typically don't watch the show.

Yes it was removed and so was my reply. It has since been posted again. SNL  staff has always had a thin skin when people address the issues they themselves have with race.  From the beginning they claimed they didn't know how to write for or have black people, especially black women, in skits. As if black people were some separate species. BTW, they were saying this at the same time Joseph Papp  was doing integrated Shakespeare in the Park with no problems.

SNL is stuck in the 1950s "Look, they are both black, famous and known for having a nice family"

In the 1950s black, famous and a nice family was represented by Amos & Andy.

The irony is that on that show the black people had decent  jobs and homes. I think "Good Times" was an even bigger stereotype of black people. To this day there are people who think all black families started in the projects and their fathers never worked or were absent.

I guess that President Obama, Mrs. Obama and the White House staff have some very, very good laughs at SNL from time to time. Way to go President Obama and the entire White Staff for having great compassion, professionalism and a great sense of humor.
Keep up the good work Mr. President.
May God richly bless you and yours.
