Conan O'Brien's 'How I Met Your Mother' Cameo Surprises Viewers (VIDEO)

Twitter lit up Monday night when viewers spotted a very familiar-looking redheaded giant in the background of a new episode of "How I Met Your Mother." Yes, it looks like Conan O'Brien made an uncredited background appearance at MacLaren's on the CBS sitcom -- but only for a moment.

Earlier tonight, Neil Patrick Harris teased the cameo without going into details:

Last June, "How I Met Your Mother" co-star Harris appeared on "Conan," and revealed that the TBS funnyman had won an auction at a charity function that allowed the winner to appear on "How I Met Your Mother" in a walk-on cameo role. During the interview, O'Brien said that the show's writers wanted to write a role for O'Brien, but he thought it would be funnier to appear in the background of the bar.

We captured a video above, but if you're just curious what an Irish talk show host looks like in an Irish bar, Twitter user Jeremy McGovern captured a photo of O'Brien's hidden cameo at the pub.

Love Conan. His fan base looks really young, but for some reason I've always loved him. When he put on that pair of jeggings, I thought I'd have to be locked up. Insane.

Plus, other comedians like him and that says something.

Conan made that show better just from those few seconds he appeared.

I actually rolled it back to check while I was watching last night. The height and the hair gave him away.

Yup, there's nothing like a good cameo.

OMG! It's Conan \\ :- ,

Now I forgot what I was gonna say.

Conan was also on 'The Office' episode with Steve Carrell some time back as a pedestrian in NY.

I just KNEW that was Conan O'Brien. I saw him when I was watching the show last night. No one else looks quite like him.

I completely agree. Didn't notice and don't really care because I don't care for Conan at all.

Why would you feel the need to comment then?

I think most things he does are "odd".

I just started watching the reruns of this and I can't believe how long this show has been on--the dates appear in the info bar--and how none of these characters seem to ever grow up; they're all so immature in every episode.

I did get caught up in the story, though, of how Ted finally meets the woman he marries when he starts dating someone from the university whose roommate is (supposedly) his future bride when objects--toy bus, yellow umbrella, all the things he likes he thougt belonged to his date but belonged to her roommate--were used as teasers.

I wish they would just get to the ending and tell us who it is. On the last show I saw Ted was trying to get back with Robin, but he already told his children in another episode that she is "Aunt Robin", so I hope the writers don't waste too much time with the Ted and Robin connection again since it's clearly not her.

It's a tv show. A form of stupid entertainment. Who cares if they are immature in every epsiode? I use to watch all the time, but it was the same show over and over, so guess what? I stopped watching if all the time. Brilliant concept when one doesnt like something.

I love Conan. That is all.

Haha, Conan doesn't really blend into the background. It's like playing an easy game of 'Where's Conan?'

No, humor is very subjective. I love Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Jerry Seinfeld, David Letterman. I know a lot of young people like Conan, but I find him very egotistical and unfunny.

I'm sorry, the man just tries too hard. I don't believe its the writing, or the format. I just think he tries too hard.

Conan seems to be disoriented !!! Perhaps someone had slipped him a mickey and something awful is about to happen to him. I am very concerned that he hasn't been abducted or something.
