Santaluces High School In Florida On Alert After 2 Teens Post Racist Video (VIDEO)

Racist Students 2

On the heels of a shocking and racist YouTube post by two teens in Gainesville, Fla., an uncannily similar video has surfaced in the state that includes the same disparaging sentiments against black students.

School officials at Santaluces High School in Lantana, Fla., are on alert, WPEC-TV reports, after two white female students posted the racist video about black students at the school, poking fun at the way they talk, and those that wear "weave" hair extensions.

At one point in the post, one of the girls says, "Guys, if you're watching this video now, and you have a weave, and you're black, please be offended -- because we're making fun of you."

They end the video with, "Don't post this on Facebook because all our friends are black!" And giggle and flash peace signs while saying, "peace and love!" Santaluces High is 27 percent white, 35 percent black and 33 percent Hispanic, The Palm Beach Post reports.

According to WPTV, the school district is aware of the video but would not go into detail about what action will be taken against the students.

"Appropriate action will be taken according to district policy," the district said in a prepared statement, according to WPTV. "Racist comments are unacceptable and have no place in our school district.”

The Palm Beach Post reports that the school is stepping up its security after the girls' video went viral.

In the video, the teens comment on how students start "turning black" as soon as they enter the school -- saying you "catch the disease."

School Police Chief Jim Kelly told The Palm Beach Post that since social media is so new, the district doesn't know how to approach the situation, but will look into the issue and determine the proper policy.

Last week, eight police officers were brought to Gainesville High School -- where the students from the first viral video attend -- in light of death threats those girls were receiving in response to their videos. The videos included comments like, "You can understand what we are saying, our accents, we use actual words. Black people do not."

The Gainesville students and their parents have since issued public apologies.

I'm pretty sure that these girls were on some kind of drug when they made this video (and obviously when they came to the decision to actually post it). That doesn't change the fact that it's very ugly, sober or not, and does not reflect well on the state of kids these days in America.

wait! what was the question?

Annoying, yes, especially the blonde one who does most of the talking. Obviously two little brats with too much time on their hands and nothing of real value to say. They think they are just hilarious. They were not. They will learn very, very quickly just how very unfunny they really were.

It is a good thing that these girls video was posted on the internet. Now everyone knows what has been going on underground at this school. It is always best to shine a light on ignorance and not ignore it. It is important that everyone not overreact. Parents and school administrators need to start sensitivity training at this school and make everyone attend. Sadly the views of these girls is what a lot of people think in the privacy of their homes. You can legislate equality and justice, but changing peoples hearts and minds is a much harder. Until we start to change, this country will continue to have problems.

It's too bad that these girls didn't come of age in my time... before the internet and YouTube. If they had they wouldn't have broadcast themselves to the world and they would have outgrown their childishness like most of us do. By that time they would have had the experience and education to realize that people are just people and that getting along isn't all that hard. I shudder to think of the stupid things I would say at fifteen years of age and I'm sure that when these girls are thirty years old they won't recognize their former selves. Free speech is a great thing but it can be a curse if one is not ready for it.

Hmmm.... I had a different take on that video.... I wondered how their parents had brought them up concluding that they must be racists... so if that is true, your comment regarding them maturing and wondering how could they have been that way will probably never happen. They may be that English teacher forcing a black student to read a poem BLACKER... they may just keep cycling their hate messages. So, you see, we all look at things differently here in America because we are all different; I am not and never will be in their league of hatred simply because another person is black, yellow, etc.... or different than me. Don't get me wrong; I see where you are coming from, but I also see the other side of the coin. If this is what these girls have been taught all their lives, it will only get worse. Racism in any form is dangerous.

Very astute observation and I would concur with.

To clarify Racism- it has to do with the notion that superiority exists based on race (which is typically socially constructed by visible differences). I agree that people have a right to their opinions although video technology is a scary thing- it can be leaked and exposed. For me, it is Not specifically the antics, the mimicking, or the stereotyping that is offensive - this you can find in comedy shows depicting certain subcultures. It is where this humor is coming from--these girls truly Believe they are better. "I used to be like a preppy pretty ..girl" (White preppy girls are pretty, Black girls are not), "I feel kind of bad for them though" (pitying an entire group of people from a pedestal) . They are kids though and clearly have very limited experiences. I could barely watch the whole video because I'm embarrassed for them that it leaked. BUT! It's a lesson in learning. I hope they learn what "peace and love" is all about as they grow up.

I haven't watched the video yet, but whether they are serious or not, they are absolutely IDIOTIC for uploading to the internet

Please google 'liberal memphis radio host disparages congresswoman' and see if you agree that it is worse than the teenage girls posting.

Of course there are worse things. There are serial murderers who are worse people than these girls.

What is your POINT? We're not talking about everyone else, we're talking about THIS topic. All you do when you say things like this is DEFEND these two. Why do you feel the need to defend them?
01:19 AM on 04/15/2012
That why u should move

This isn't as disturbing as it is disppointing. To think we're still seeing this in this day and age is just plain sad. Being black myself, I can't decide if I should feel offended or laugh at their stupidity, I've heard comedians satirize black people, I've heard comedians satirize jamaicans, and I laughed because I knew they weren't intending to offend, but the fact that one of the girls said "be offended," she just crossed a line she had no business crossing. I know its her right to speak about this because of Freedom of Speech, but there are some things that should never be said, you might think them, but don't let people hear you, they might be protected by Freedom of Speech but they should have kept one thing in mind: They're not the only ones who are protected by Freedom of Speech and now they're paying the price for it. I'm not saying they should love black people, but they need repect the fact that we're living here.

These little tramps should be expelled.
12:13 AM on 03/19/2012
These girls are hilarious. I don't really think they are legit racists.
05:13 PM on 03/19/2012
I think they are because they even said, "Be offended." They might have black friends, but that just means that they two faced racists, instead of the in your face racists.

Plus, this is not funny. It is sad, annoying, and embarrassing,

saddened that the white people have to look at them makin them look bad...didn't see it from a different veiw..

Wow... "so like not all black females have like weave and so like they can brush their hair and like don't need to pat it. So like that's just dumb. And like the word it scratch as in they can't scratch it so like saying they can't itch it is like wrong". Honestly anyone can absorb a cultural language and make it they're own. The over use of the word like has always been an English teacher's worst nightmare. I cannot believe that in this day and age we still have to deal with this racial crap. And it's not just with the older generation that lived during the Civil Rights Movement but children who really should know nothing about displaying that kind of behavior. This is just a prime example of ignorance at its best and the lack of understanding and tolerance that people, especially misguided southerners like these girls, still carry with them. And being a black woman in my 30's I can truly say that ignorance is colorblind! I would love the chance to provide cultural awareness to kids like this cause this has to stop.
