All morning the sad news spread through the Gold Coast high-rise: Charlie, the boy who had a smile for everyone, had died in a horrible accident, plummeting 46 floors down a trash chute.

how sad and unfortunate. No, he's not in a better place. That doesn't make it any easier. Or better. He's just gone.

Really, guy? Do you really think this is the appropriate place to bother this person with your atheist commentary? I'm an atheist myself, and I am embarrassed by your comment. Save it for a discussion that doesn't revolve around the unfortunate loss of a child's life. You make us look bad.

So very sad. It seems he touched so many people's lives during his time here though. I cannot imagiine losing one of my children.

This is a dreadful tragedy. Deepest sympathies to the family, who are probably blaming themselves for this. You cannot watch your child every second. You think that they are safely occupied with something and it turns out differently. Sometimes when a person has autism and mental retardation, they may not have any sense of personal safety or curiosity overwhelms all good sense.

even with fully-functional kids. Even completely functional kids can go off the wire. It's so sad.
