William And Kate's Dog Named Lupo

First Posted: 02/21/2012 8:35 am Updated: 02/21/2012 3:14 pm

LONDON (AP) — British royal officials say Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge have named their black cocker spaniel puppy Lupo.

The palace says William and the former Kate Middleton both like the name, derived from the Latin word for wolf.

The royals got the puppy several months ago and he is keeping the duchess company while William is on military assignment as a Royal Air Force search and rescue helicopter pilot in the Falkland Islands.

Press officers had initially refused to provide the dog's name, citing the royal couple's privacy, but the information emerged Tuesday while the duchess met children in Oxford, southern England.

She visited schools that use art therapy to help children with behavioral problems.

I'm so glad to hear this. I've been fretting for weeks not knowing what that dog is called.

Yes, that is sarcasm.

Stop trying to make us out to be silly Americans, who pore over these insignificant details with depressing fervour.

Cocker Spaniels come in many different colors; that looks more like a terrier of some type than a cocker. He also looks a little skinny, but maybe he's been playing in the water.

I think they should have called him "Woof".

Very cute. I love cocker spaniels though I didn't know they come in black. It's always a puppy then a baby. I'm waiting for a cute baby.

Oh, thank God! I've been on tenterhooks since I first found out they had a puppy about 5 minutes ago! Now I can rest peacefully!

Gee, I'm such a sucker for puppies that I'll ignore my aversion to and disgust with "news" stories about British royals.

Man, if the image of Kate and Wills walking on the beach with her holding on to his arm isn't the picture of domestic bliss and tranquility, I don't know what is. I wish them every happiness.

Every Italian family has a dog named Lupo-- we did. That's one of the tests to see if you are Italian or not.
09:27 AM on 02/22/2012
Not really, only dog woulf like, because Lupo means Woulf.

It is BIG news for some. You're obviously not a schoolgirl or a sad shop girl or a little old lady.

Alas, no.....none of those.
