You've Got David Blaine: Magician Submerges In A Tank, Spits Out A Goldfish (VIDEO)

First Posted: 02/21/2012 5:27 pm Updated: 02/21/2012 6:35 pm

David Blaine first gained recognition with his levitation tricks on "David Blaine: Street Magic" on ABC in 1997. He's caught the attention of pedestrians, and television viewers with his illusions and endurance artistry. Now, AOL has captured the well-known escape artist for the latest installment of "You've Got," in which Blaine performs a stunt in the New Jersey Liberty Science Center fish tank while talking about experiencing the "best side of humanity" at local museums.

Not short on tricks itself, the video features Blaine submerged in the tank with fish swimming around him while he "smokes" a cigar and even spits out a goldfish.

"When you're doing things that are real that seem impossible; that's a different kind of magic. It's-self gratifying," Blaine says.

Not sure about the promoting of cigars for school-aged kids but, the tricks were cool....

David Blaine is amazing. You have to admire someone who is fearless and keeps pushing the envelope of "magic".

Has anyone ever seen his trick where he lifts himself off the ground and suspends himself in the air? I did. How do you explain him doing this, with no invisible lifters.... and then you touch the space where he's lifted himself up..... and there is nothing there except space.

At my job many back in the 90s, I got an order for a person named 'Copperfield, David'.  I thought, "Who would name their kid that".  Well, it was the magician.  I was so tempted to ask how he made the plane disappear and so on but I didn't say a thing.  But, I did ask the person in charge to ask but he didn't either.  He was really funny and great by the way.

David Blaine is very good, but I don't think he's as good as Steven Frayne, AKA Dynamo. His tricks are similar to those of Blaine just taken a stage further.

Never thought about that..Good one. I thought it was a water proof cigar like the cig's that blow out vapor..Of course the it would blow out to water and you would not be able to see it. Your prob, right.. Makes sense...

Um I am guessing here.... shoved in his mouth before he went in. Odds are it was eaten by the other inhabitants of the tank making it kinda creepy and really an f'ed up thing to do.

Always liked this guy. A little weird. Didn't much dig the weird endurance gags (encased in a block of ice, buried alive) but he's always managed to capture attention and intrigue. And smoking a cigar underwater IS pretty cool (poor fish subjected to secondhand smoke LOL).
