'19 Kids And Counting': Mackynzie's First Haircut (VIDEO)

First Posted: 02/22/2012 3:14 am Updated: 02/22/2012 9:24 am

As every parent (and hair stylist) knows, a child's first haircut is a rite of passage that can be fraught with tantrums and difficulty.

On "19 Kids And Counting" (Tues., 9 p.m. EST on TLC) Josh and Anna Duggar shared daughter Mackynzie's first haircut with viewers.

The Duggars went to a local cosmetology school for the big event, and a friend of Anna's trimmed Mackynzie's hair.

Things went surprisingly smoothly, and any tears or difficult behavior were ironed out with the aid of games on Anna's cell phone and some judiciously timed candy.

At the end of the visit Miss Mackynzie looked just adorable in her new 'do.

Follow the adventures of the extended Duggar clan on "19 Kids And Counting," Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on TLC.

Anna has some natural born child care instincts. Did you notice how she lined the girls up and placed them in the car one by one. My only suggestion would've been to have them sit down. They are usually calmer when they do that. She also could establish playground rules like not climbing on the outside of the play equipment. She did a good job considering all their ages and not having help. Maybe she should start a little Duggar preschool if the used car sales don't pick up. You go girl!
