The best thing to elicit small business is to nurture demand. Is there any demand in Detroit or Michigan for small businesses especially, African-American businesses? The unemployment rate for African-Americans is over 30%. Granted I don't know the specifics in Michigan but, half the households nation wide are working poor. Most likely Michigan is higher than the national average and Detroit higher still. Where is the demand for goods and services? What good is teaching business skills to people who don't have customers. Like everything else in this country we're overlooking the obvious and getting the cart ahead of the horse. But, let's still applaud the first ever all black commerce board. It's so absurd. Here's the thing. There is so much wealth disparity in Michigan especially that an old adage comes to mind; Make your money on the King, live like the masses. Make your money on the masses, live like a King. Everybody is chasing the fewer and fewer people that are accumulating all the money thusly, living like the masses because, the masses don't have squat to spend.
