It's becoming clear that Santorum is the preferred GOP candidate between the foothills of the Rockies eastward through the Great Plains to the upper Midwest. If Gingrich can hold the fort in the South (I've got doubts), Santorum and Gingrich could certainly stop Romney from getting to 1144 with their geographic strongholds in the Great Plains/Midwest and the South, respectively.
