'The Biggest Loser': The Game Takes A Back Seat To Personal Drama (VIDEO)

First Posted: 02/22/2012 1:40 am Updated: 02/22/2012 10:15 am

Remember when "The Biggest Loser" (Tue., 8 p.m. EST on NBC) was a reality competition show about losing weight and the contestants trying to change their lives? Neither did most of the contestants this week. It's possibly unfair to blame Conda Britt for all the immature drama that's plagued the entire season, but she does seem to have been at the center of it.

Since Day One, she's had at least one target to focus all of her eye rolling towards. Bob Harper made a very astute observation this week when he talked about how much power Conda has in the house. This was evidenced completely this week by how things played out after a Temptation created a whole week of childish behavior and questionable decisions.

Daphne Dortch has been on the outs since returning to the house. Her brother was eliminated the first chance the Red Team had to get rid of him, and she's been on a warpath ever since. While last week's episode saw her weight alone carry her team to victory, Daphne wasn't ready to let bygones be bygones. She won Temptation and decided to make a move solely as revenge against Conda and her brother Jeremy.

She had the power to reorganize the teams any way she saw fit, and all she did was switch the brother-and-sister pair. Awkwardly, this put Conda on her team, and strengthened the Red Team with the addition of Jeremy. Not that it mattered, though, as the Black Team was talked into throwing the Weigh In by Daphne's newly appointed teammate Conda. She smirked and smiled all the way through that joke of a weigh-in, lying along with the rest of them as to why their weight loss was so deplorable.

Daphne was obviously eliminated, but with Conda still in the house, it's unlikely the drama will change. Now that she's lost the latest target for her love of creating drama, she's going to have to find someone else. Chris seems a likely candidate, as she was the only one on the Black Team who didn't play along, and has been a bit on the outs for a while now. Had the Aqua Team not returned to the game, Chris would have probably been eliminated weeks ago.

How long can Conda go? Will she ever stop stirring up the drama in the house? Will this season ever be about the competition and not petty grudges and vendettas?

We have been Biggest Loser fans since day one but not any more. This program has gone from losing weight to back stabbing down and dirty drama queens that seem to be more interested in hurting the other contestants feelings rather losing weight and the constant screwing around with with the original format of the program, changing trainers, sending contestants home for a week at a time, playing stupid games that generally favor one person over another, changing partners in mid stream pitting family members against each other is all a bit stupid and as a result our entire family voted Biggest Loser off of our Tuesday night television programing. If this is the best NBC can come up with than just cancel the show and save us the trouble of having to change channels.

I am very disappointed with the show up to now. I can't believe that the trainer's and producers would let contestants be treated as bad as Daphne and Adrian where treated. I have been a fateful watcher of the show up until now. I am not going to watch another episode of the show this season. I thought it was about losing weight and becoming better people, not about how low down and dirty I can be.

What a horrendous season! what is wrong with these people? First, the producers design some kind of social experiment with the Aqua team by not letting them in, then sabotage their experience by inserting them into the house when bonds had already been formed- Adrian and Daphne had been set up for rejection from the start. Then, no one realizes how destructive and mainipulative Conda is week after week and no one votes her off?! Amazing!
It's astounding to me that the black team sabatoged their own weigh-in in order to get rid of Daphne- my God, thousands of viewers would love to have a place on the Biggest Loser, the thought that these people were willing to waste their energy on trying to get rid of someone instead of focusing on their own issues and weight loss is sickening. Shows you some people never grow up.
That the producers and trainers (even after Dolvett had his problems with Conda in the beginning) let this continue just shows that drama is more important to them than actually helping people lose weight. And now the remainder of the contestants have left the show? Let 'em go, I say. There are hundreds of deserving people who can take their place. Sign me up.

It has now become painful to watch this show. It is DISGUSTING to have to watching bullying happen on a show that is supposed to motivate and help. I imagine that at one time or another each of these contestants has been a victim of someone else's cruelty because of their weight. The fact that almost NONE of them have had the guts to stand up to this despicable bullying from Conda and her cronies is revolting.
For the contestants who did not actively bully but have kept quiet, and stood back and watched this, and I include the trainers in this, you are just as bad. Silence is consent.

They should have voted Conda off a long time ago.
Now the best thing the producers could do is get rid of all of the current contestants that are on strike and bring back ALL of the the ones that have already gone home, otherwise no one will be happy if one of the trouble makers wins the money.

This season has the worst contestants they have ever had. I haven't been able to find one that I like or am rooting for. The way they all treated Adrian and Daphnye was horrible and Conda (the most toxic of them all) had the nerve to sit at that table and say she was being a role model for her daughter?! What a joke! Instead of teaching her daughter not to be a bully, she's teaching her just the opposite! She orchestrated the plan to throw the weigh in and has done nothing but complain from day one. I can't believe the others went along with her..but then again, that shows the type of people they are as well. I don't believe that she'll keep the weight off after the show, she hasn't learned anything but that would mean her having an open mind. We'll see what happens now...they have no "outsiders" to target so now what?!

Sad examples are all I see and they don't remember why, or don't care why they went there in the first place.

Personally, I’ve lost all respect for the Biggest Loser this season. It’s turned into a poor example of the Jerry Springer show. And Conda is pure evil. I’m going to stop watching the Biggest Loser as of now and I hope that the world gets this message and stops watching the Biggest Loser. Maybe if ratings drop this show will go back to losing weight again or else this show needs to go off the AIR ASAP!

I thought I was tuning into BL and not Jerry Springer. I was shocked at the horrific bullying of the two new contestants. My heart breaks when I think of how happy Adrian was to have made it to the house after losing a lot of weight on his own, and he was actually told to Shut up! Horrible mob violence. The folks in the house said it was "unfair", well, boo fricking hoo, that was how the game was structured. If they had problems they could have gone to the producers and voiced them, but they turned on the two new players with a vengeance that still has me sick to my stomach.

There have been there have been psychological experiments where one person is put in a group that disagreed with everything the person said. The person being disagreed experienced extreme emotional distress. Humans are social animals. The kind of torture Daphne was subjected to was nightmarish. She had NO support. Bob didn't even stand up for her.

Couldn't agree more about their actions towards the aqua team... a team who worked their butts off at home to beat the required weight loss for a return. This is a season of whiners and complainers who provide NO inspiration for the viewing audience.

I have always enjoyed this show and the positive message it delivered...until this year. I don't know if the negative and dramatic tone is manufactured by the producers or just a natural result of a very toxic and totally unlikeable group of contestants. But it is becoming more obvious that BL has jumped the shark. If the contestants were told to behave like a bunch of whiney grade schoolers by the producers they should be pitied. But if this immature behavior is a reflection of their actual personalities, then it is just sad. I don't even remember the first one to got voted out, but I am for her. At least she didn't have enough time to get on my nerves.

This season is by far the worst, to much game playing, everyone seems to have forgotten the reason they are there. I have been watching since season one,Bob is the best and the most caring trainer you have ever had. The new trainer I don't like, he needs to look in the mirror and remember who and what he is nnad stop trying to be something he is not and cannot ever be.

I just read that 'Biggest Loser' is having a mutiny by the remaining contestants who are threatening to walk off the show!!! WELL, LET "EM WALK!!! NO LOSS! (except maybe to the program time lost). Tell them to stroll on home and regain all that lovely fat! They are useless as motivators, useless as entertainers, useless as decent human beings and haven't even lost that much weight. The decent folk are all gone. I've watched this show for years and have always rooted for 9/10ths of the contestants who enjoyed being there (even with the HARD work!) and saw what they could become. These knotheads came on with so much baggage (not just fat) that you'd need a staff of psychologists for a year to straighten them out. THEY ARE USELESS!!! ADIOS!

Conda is toxic in this group of people. The show has had such a positive influence over the years, it's a shame that such negative behavior is allowed.
03:32 PM on 02/22/2012
All I can say is WOW. I have always enjoyed the Biggest Loser until now. It was utterly shameful the way Daphne and her brother were treated day one by Conda and Kim. What was even more despicable was the way the others just did not stand up and do the right thing. This group is really a bunch of "LOSERS' in the real sense of the word.
I agree with Daphne;she is far better off away from the toxicity and the drama.
04:33 PM on 02/22/2012
f6451 you are so right. I feel sorry for Daphne and her brother. I hope in the end they will be winners and Conda should be shunned by the team. SHe brought all the drama to the show. With that attitude she will put the weight on back real fast.
06:35 PM on 02/22/2012
touche, couldn't say it any better.
02:23 PM on 02/22/2012
I'll admit Daphne's plan was rather absurd, especially since she could have put her enemies on the same team and watched them stab each other in the backs. But it AMAZES me that Conda is even a remaining contestant. She loses the least amount of weight almost regularly. Every time she's been challenged, she's lost. She's highly manipulative and yes, she is the weakest link. To make things worse, the same girl she accused of cheating weeks ago bought into her scheme. There were a few people on the black team I liked. Now I'm rooting for them all to lose.
03:12 PM on 02/23/2012
Conda is toxic for sure, and she succeeded in bringing out the worst in the other contestants. Kim and Mark are awful human beings as well and the rest are just lemmings with no backbone to stand up for what's right and decent! A despicable cast for sure!
02:12 PM on 02/22/2012
Conda is the most toxic/manipulative/narsissistic individual i've ever witnessed on BL. Granted..I have not watched all the episodes, but this one is really painful to watch. What a set up for Adrian and Daphne...Adrian was sooo happy to be back on the show..then the evil one did her number and he lost all energy. I m sort of feeling sorry for Conda's daughter...what sort of Mother/role model is Conda anyway,,,ick. Her brother is hardly any better...and what was up with that sabatoging the last weigh in? It was so obvious. Just sorry Daphne didnt loose more . Dang....
HOPE HOPE HOPE either Daphne or her brother win the at home challenge. Someone needs to give Conda a reality check on her attutude and behavior...she is one messed up momma.
10:00 PM on 02/25/2012
It wouldnt have made any difference if Daphne had lost any more unless she lost the most because she still would have been voted off. Look at what they did to Kris's husband ( i think his name was Roy aka Santa). He lost 9 lbs and he was voted off. At the elimination round even Allison mentioned it.
09:39 PM on 03/06/2012
That's the problem this season, it's become a popularity contest between those that that are there to actually lose weight and those drama queens that are there to get their 15 minutes of fame while making asses of themselves. We no longer watch the show!
