NEW YORK -- Viewers gave CBS the week's most-watched show along with 21 others in the top 30 ranking.

Fox was represented only by its two editions of "American Idol" – which ranked second and third – while NBC's lone entry, "The Voice," took fourth place, according to Nielsen Co. figures released Wednesday.

CBS' durable drama "NCIS" won the top spot with a remarkable audience of nearly 20 million viewers.

For the week, CBS' prime-time average was 10.9 million viewers (6.8 rating, 11 share). Fox had 8.7 million viewers (5.1 rating, 8 share), ABC had 6.7 million (4.2 rating, 7 share), NBC had 5.6 million (3.5 rating, 6 share), the CW had 1.1 million (0.9 rating, 1 share) and ION Television had 1.1 million (0.7 rating, 1 share).

Among the Spanish-language networks, Univision led with a 3.8 million viewer average (1.9 rating, 3 share), Telemundo had 1.0 million (0.6 rating, 1 share), Telefutura had 660,000 (0.4 rating, 1 share), Estrella had 220,000 and Azteca 130,000 (both 0.1 rating, 0 share).

NBC's "Nightly News" topped the evening newscasts with an average of 9.4 million viewers (6.2 rating, 11 share). ABC's "World News" was second with 8 million (5.4 rating, 10 share), while the "CBS Evening News" had 6.8 million viewers (4.5 rating, 8 share).

A ratings point represents 1,147,000 households, or 1 percent of the nation's estimated 114.7 million TV homes. The share is the percentage of in-use televisions tuned to a given show.

CBS is the BEST!!!

Mmmmm, so there's 60 Minutes, The Good Wife, Scott Pelley...annnnd nothing else. I suppose How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, The Amazing Race, Survivor, and The Mentalist aren't really objectionable, but the rest is cookie-cutter brain-function-free procedurals & sitcoms. Dreck. And Big Brother, which is a scourge upon mankind.

CBS may have the best *ratings*, but I suspect even that is an artifact of a ratings system that's even more geriatric than the CBS demographic.

60 minutes and Good Wife and the occasional Big Bang Theory is all I watch on CBS. I used to watch The Mentalist but after the first two seasons, I was done with it. Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Shameless, and Luck. But none of them are network shows they are all cable and pay channel shows. I watch too much TV.

Hi BDAD! I saw your comment in the ppennding window. Don't know why it never posted. Thanks so much for the kind words. I thought you were going to say "You make so many comments. Why are you so obsessive?" LOL. I'm a fan of yours as well, by the way.

We love NCIS and the spinoff NCISLA. We are hoping to see a lot of Jamie Lee Curtis; her character is perfect for Gibbs.

CBS absolutely dominates...as long as you're gumming your grits, that is. The channel's median age (that's the one in the middle) is over 55. Not exactly the favorite demographic of your typical TV advertiser.

Glad to see that NCIS and NCIS:LA are doing well. I'm sick of shows I like being cancelled because everyone is too busy watching some crap like real housewives.

I can understand why CBS dominates the ratings-----other than "NCIS". The show is actually ridiculous: A purported drama with story lines where the agency continuously violates federal jurisdictional limitations. A crime lab worker who wears outlandish garments whereby every basic sanitation regulation is violated. A dog chain collar in a lab? Sucking on a drink through a straw in the lab while working? Get real. A boss (Mark Harmon) who can hear the particular substance of every conversation among subordinates from a great distance at which time he reverts to a Three Stooges Moe-parody by slapping the heads of his co-workers? This is a lame show that takes itself waaaaaay to seriously. "Criminal Minds", another CBS show, is far superior to "NCIS" in realism and entertainment value. Plus the acting on "CM" is far and away better than on "NCIS". I never have understood all the hype about "NCIS". I actually think the NCIS Los Angeles show with LL Cool J is better.

The Good Wife is solid. Also, they have 2 solid "reality" shows. But yeah, 60 Minutes is the CBS redeemer.

NCIS has great story lines. Big Bang Theory is hilarious. Person of Interest, The Mentalist... great writers, great stories too. CSI - waste of an hour since they got rid of Peterson's character (yeah, it's sucked since Grissom "left).

The only reason I would watch "NCIS: LA" is if my TV froze there after watching NCIS. "LA's" writers must still be in high school. These characters are so unlikable (with the exception of the Deeks guy, who has a few good lines), and unrealistic. Every story is about these 30-somethings who've been everywhere, done everything, saved everyone. And Heddy? Get real.

Dear Lord, NCIS is so boring it hurts and Gibbs might be the most annoying character on tv. What's up with him hitting people on the head? I'm not buying the whole mysterious-ladies-man-tough-as nails persona, the creators of the show are trying to sell. NCIS: LA on the other hand grew up on me: Deeks is adorable and LL Cool J is very entertaining to watch.
