Phil got a huge shock to the system with no advanced warning on "Modern Family" (Wed., 9 p.m. EST on ABC), when Alex mistook his reference to "Haley's aversion." Alex thought he said, "Haley's a virgin," and started to giggle incredulously. Until, that is, she realized what he really said, and what she'd just revealed.
It was a difficult realization for Phil, and he struggled to process the fact that his oldest daughter is growing up. It's a struggle all too common to fathers of daughters in particular, as protectiveness is a natural state, as is the naive belief that their baby girl will stay their baby girl forever.
Haley tried to gingerly tell him, via talking about Lily's broken doll, that she's still the same girl she ever was, just more mature. It took Phil a while, but he did manage to handle it and realize that it's just a normal part of growing up.
Perhaps most unexpectedly, he also discovered that Claire had known already for the past three months. When he confronted her about it, Claire began to muster up a defense, but all Phil did was hug her and thank her. Instead of being angry that she hadn't clued him in, he was grateful to have been left in the dark.

Modern Family highlights a common contemporary media image of gay parenting: wealthy, urban, white gay men raising an adopted child. However, U.S. Census Bureau data suggest that same-sex couples raising children are substantially more diverse.
I'm always eager to hop on a Hollywood trend. So with the success of Modern Family, The Kids Are All Right winning at the Golden Globes and celebrity gays suddenly having children, I decided I should try becoming a dad myself.
I'm a religious person who sometimes needs to be reminded of the beauty of non-religious belief and of the need for sensitivity and open communication in my friendships with people who believe differently. I'm very glad that TV was there to remind me this week.
I love this show. It is the only show that when I see a commercial for an upcoming episode, I don't fast forward thru. The whole cast is just amazing together.

Maybe it's because I'm a huge loser and a 33 year old virgin (male). But I'm I the only one that thinks people that young shouldn't be having sex?
Doing it so early can only bring complications (pregnancy, emotional problems etc) not just to the lucky ones but also to the losers like me who have to deal with the envy and feelings of worthlessness.
Of course, I guess I'm in the minority here because I'm such a huge loser and my social anxiety is bad enough as it is, I don't need to know that even kids are better than me.
Also, I haven't watched the clip (and I don't want to) so I don't know how old she is, but from the screen capture she looks pretty young, like 14-15. Too young.
