Obama: Choice For Latinos In 2012 'Won't Be That Difficult'

Obama Latino Vote

02/23/12 12:13 PM ET  AP

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama is telling Latino voters their choice in the election "will not be that difficult" because he's the only one who backs comprehensive immigration reform.

In a reference to Mitt Romney, Obama says the GOP's "leading candidate" would even veto the Dream Act, which gives a pathway to citizenship to children here illegally if they attend college or join the military. Romney has said he would support modified legislation that applies only to young people who join the military.

Despite Obama's support for reform, he has made little progress on immigration. He blames congressional Republicans, saying they are unwilling to work on the issue.

Obama spoke during an interview with Eddie "Piolin" Sotelo, a Hispanic radio personality.

I feel that most people were raised by Latin Decree from Saint Peter. When the people mixed Latin Religion was taught to several families. Some have not this love in the soul. The Central America and Mexican land should be enough providence for the people of Modern Latin conversions. America can be a hard cruel place to live

It's not the Posters who are spewing anti Latino, Black, Poor, Immigrant, Women, and Children rhetoric, it is the Republicans openly and during the well televised primary debates and in interviews live on TV and Radio. These guys represent who the REPUBLICAN PARTY has put forward, in various fashions, as their choice to run this country. No one needs to make this stuff up; they have and keep on saying it. There are so many instances; I wouldn't have enough room to cite them all!! Fortunately, the video tapes are rolling and will keep rolling until November. Okay, just a quick few, " Children should be janitors," "I would Veto the Dream Act," "I would build a electrified fence,” "There should be no contraception because it is a license for sexual activity," Let Detroit fail," "Children in really poor neighborhoods have no role models," "I don't care about the poor, they already have a safety net,""He should just die!" That is without trying to look anything up. In many instances when these statements were made, there were loud applauses from their audience, signaling their agreement. People are capable of making a decision and vote based upon who is at least trying to work on their behalf (Do nothing Republican Controlled Congress aside), versus those who clearly have only tried to benefit the 1% by word and action.

The posters here are confusing the Republican stance regarding illegal aliens with Americans of Latino backgrounds. Posters falsely claim republicans are against Latinos ,blacks ,women, gays, children, elderly and probably puppies . If that were the case no republican would ever get elected . Democrats use the same scare tactics against the minorities that they used against the elderly. If you don't see it the Democrat way the Republicans are going to get you!!1

The Liberal Rhetoric of the Socialist Utopians. They make ridiculous claims against any who stand in the way of their agenda which is to dismantle what is 'America' really is.
Class warefare is their primary tool but history has shown that when the libs have control, the welfare state unfolds at a rapid pace. Entitlements create apathy and with each liberal votes are manufatured and they are wrking overtime to meet their quota.

The Dems are in control and we have nearly 16 trillion in debt, high unemployment, higher food prices, higher fuel prices, and as the dems contiune their path of destruction they insist that they can spend their way out of the misery they create. Obamacare is a huge push to gain final control over the individual and their freedoms.

Through the scoffing eyes of the libs the tea party is supposedly fueled by racism and hate against all. Liberals have disdain for everything conservative and wholesome while elevating the OWS crowds, criminals, and illegals who actually trash the places they hang and beg for someone else to be responsible for their self created misery.
The plan of the liberal is ill conceived and as they seek to promise to redistribute and mandate they deminish the liberty they enjoy and surender themselves to tyranny.

Of course it's an easy choice, not just for Latinos but for everyone. The Republicans have totally lost it and have centered there whole campaign on hate. No one is really buying into except a very small percentage of mean-spirited Americans. President Obama will win again in 2012, hands down no competition.
11:43 PM on 02/23/2012
Yes, the Republicans have totally lost it, Romney has donated millions to the mormon church so that they can help in his campaign. Now, we have a lot of advertising on how cool is to be a Latino-Republican-Mornon...
Obviously, there is nothing wrong being a Mormon, except when the Mitt Romney is behind the hypocrisy.

Read the parade of white rac.ists here trying day after day to convince Hispanics to vote for Republicans is almost pathetic beyond words. The Republicans have not only burned their bridges, but they destroyed any material to rebuild a bridge.

November can't come soon enough, so we can deal a fatal blow to that hateful annoying group of incurable bi.gots.

How do you know that these people are White??? Or Republicans??? Also why are you Projecting your Racism onto others???

You're saying it's racist to expose white racists

In 2012, the Republican party seems to be applying the "Southern Strategy," now against Latinos/Hispanics nation-wide to win the vote.

"In American politics, the Southern strategy refers to the Republican Party strategy of winning elections in Southern states by exploiting anti-African American racism and fears of lawlessness among Southern white voters, and appealing to fears of growing federal power in social and economic matters."
05:30 PM on 03/09/2012
And....No person should ever have concern over increasing federal power. What a silly idea.

"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have.” Thomas Jefferson.

“Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”Benjamin Franklin.

Are we there yet?

Obama is not working on helping the Latinos, he is working on the Latino vote and as soon as he gets it he will soon forget his promises. Myself, I would rather take my chances with Santorum or Paul.

Hispanic directly relates to Spain. In case you are unaware, LATINOS are made up of indigenous people, african people and spanish people. Calling all Latinos Hispanics wipes the indigenous people and african people off our map and makes it seem like they don't exist in our culture. I'm not sure why you are so inclined to use the word Hispanic but if you knew your history you would know that it was a word invented by Anglos that in no way encompasses who we are as a race.

Obamaville is the United States of America. If you don't like it here, move on.

Whoopee, you are not on welfare. Of what relevance is that?

Wait. You are not trying to shame people on welfare like there is some problem in their needing assistance, are you? Your pride is based on feeling superior to people in need.
You definitely are too low class to qualify as an Obama supporter.

Because due to the facts, (this info came from the mouth of an official at a welfare agency) MOST THAT COME IN HERE TO GET WELFARE SHOULD NOT BE ON WELFARE. The system is being broken due to these actions by not only legal, non-willing to work reciepients, but by the tremendous amount of individuals that should not be having children who cannot afford to take care of them..... and especially the tremendous amounts of those cashing in on welfare, etc. due to Birthright Citizenship!

Latinos don't have to sit there not knowing ~

They do have the option of being repatriotized within 48hrs ~ via, DHS/ICE, "stipulated removal" program, waiving their rights to a immigration hearing in front of an immigration magistrate

People posting here about whether or not Obama is going to win all or none of Latinos have no grasp of statistics or politics. Every Latino doesn't have to be turned off to swing the election, just a few percentage points. If a Republican can't break 40% of the Latino vote it is unlikely they win. Framing the argument as though it were an all of nothing bid or that Romney's rhetoric hasn't turned off a significant portion of Latino voters (we're talking a swing of 3-10% here) is ludicrous. I, for example, am an independent who was going to vote for Romney before he started his ludicrous antiimigrant rhetoric...the question isn't whether every Latino will vote like I do, it's whether some marginal number of us are incited to vote for Obama who either would have voted Republican or not at all. I have no idea why I'm even participating in a comment board, I'll probably just get trolled for this, but there's the truth folks. And yes, immigration is a major issue for anyone who is from an immigrant family, it's not THE issue necessarily, but its always an issue.

The sad truth about the last election showed that 97% of blacks voted for Obama as well as large majority of the poor. It has already been said in history that a democracy will eventually fall when the have nots realize they can vote someone in who will GIVE them stuff. Plain and simple. No racist statements, just truth. The truth I have told all of my friends is that if you voted for or against Obama because of his race then you are a RACIST! I have way too many of my friends who voted for him and will NOT this go around.

If those running now appeal to you, and you have been listening to what they are saying, you will not be supporting the President. They are vastly different.

There is not much of a choice to make once you hear Obama's opponents. There is not much there to like. Supporting one of those opponents says a lot about who you are.
