Regis Philbin is officially trying to make a TV comeback, he told "The Talk." After dropping by the talk show on Thursday in the middle of an interview with Tom Arnold, the former "Live!" host revealed that he was in the process of pitching a new, unspecified project to TV Land and CBS.
"Its new to me to be out of work," he said. "So I'm looking to get back in. I couldn't find TV Land ... what bungalow are they in? Who are they?!" he yelled, jokingly becoming agitated. "I'm applying for a job on TV Land, I can't believe it!" Philbin recently booked a guest-spot on "Hot in Cleveland."
Regis went on to describe the stressful nature of pitch meetings. "Oh my god. [It's] very painful. They stare at me, 'Who are you?' I'm Regis!" he exclaimed.
He then shared that with his TV Land pitch in the books, he was gearing up for his next meeting. "I'm waiting for the next pitch, which is with the big CBS people, Nina Tassler" he said, referring to the president of CBS Entertainment. Interestingly, at this point he reached out and took Julie Chen's hand. Chen is married to Les Moonves, the president and CEO of CBS Corp.
Just what kind of project Philbin is shopping remains an open question. Soon after his retirement from "Live!" he spent some time filming a reality show pilot, but later said the genre didn't suit him. In an interview with HuffPost TV in November, he left all of his post-"Live!" options open, and hinted he might even be interested in experimenting with a sitcom.
"Well, I'm trying to make a decision or at least think about what could be next. Of course, reality shows are everywhere, and I've talked to a lot of people about them. People think that I made a pilot, but I never made a pilot. I just went out with a camera crew, and we spent a couple of hours putting together a two-minute piece to show me what it would be like. After I saw it, it didn't attract me that much. But there are other areas too, like scripted television, situational comedies and variety shows. But nothing right now has appealed to me, so I'm still looking for something."

This is what is wrong with show business and entertainment, ladies and gentlemen. A fresh breeze rather than an old t*rd would be nice once in a while.
repugnicansfearme: This is what is wrong with show business and entertainment,
I think it's difficult to end a career. To do what? Sit around and watch tv? Play golf? For those with means, I'd say volunteer. Think of all the great charitable work Regis could do now! All the public service. Unless, of course, he's having a hard time walking away from the fame
Laughert9: I think it's difficult to end a career. To do
A number of years ago, I had major surgery and was laid up for 6-7 weeks. So I started watching Regis and Kathy Lee. I got SO tired of Regis' pomposity that I stopped watching every day. When Kathy Lee left, I stopped watching it at all. Kelly (is that her name) is almost as bad as he is. I'm so cute, look at me, look at me. Yuck!!!!

I would watch Regis on any show. He's hilarious and interesting. I have not watched Live With.... a single time since he left, not interesting without him.

Yeah he's out of a job but he's got heavy holdings. I love the guy. When I was casting Chips at MGM Culver City, way back then, I tried to put him on the show several times and he'd always personally return my call. I'd tell him it was a great part then we'd both have a huge laugh, what crap show. One time when he was told I was on the line picking up the phone he exclaimed loudly, "Mike Hanks, he's the only one that ever thinks about me". We laughed, he again said he had conflicting dates but really wanted to do the show, another big laugh. A while later he started his daytime morning show, the rest history. I wish he'd think of me now, I need a gig....
He'll always be a part of the show business fabric...artists get tired of doing the same thing and Regis' has enough money now, he just wanted normal change. He'll always be doing something...I hope, he pumps everybody up...go Regis...he inspires us all.
moinks: He'll always be a part of the show business fabric...artists
Why, all he does is talk about how much money he spends on his dinners or hobb-nobbing with Trump....Nobody wants to see or hear from him again..And to boot he had two Co-Host both named Philborn...That Regis-n-Philborn show is utterly ridiculous, the first Philborn all she did was talk about her kid and husband , until he found him someone who didn't brag so much...And the second one they must of had her change her name because there is no way that there is two women named Philborn let alone on TV...so that was another lie. Now the new Philborn over acts, nobody gets her jokes....They need to remove that show for good, she is horrible ...And I hope that Philborn guy is never on TV again...how dare he talk about the obscene amout of money he can spend when families are losing their homes and starving
Tim_Day: Why, all he does is talk about how much money
An occasional appearance on Hot In Cleveland sounds perfect. While we all respect Regis I think there comes a time when we value people more is we see them less.

Well I hope his next co-host is not named Philborn....I can't believe he found two women with that name in the first place to have The Regis-N-Philborn Live show.....That always struck me as a weird name for anyone
Tim_Day: Well I hope his next co-host is not named Philborn....I
