Miranda Kerr 'Haute Muse' Cover: Model Is Virtually Unrecognizable (PHOTO)

Haute Muse, which bills itself as the "first international fashion magazine coming out from the Middle East," has a way of taking familiar, gorgeous faces and turning them... well, less familiar.

For the December 2011 cover, Haute Muse gave Kim Kardashian a Frida Kahlo makeover, thickening her eyebrows and lacquering on layers of dark lipstick.

For the latest issue, the mag again took a heavy hand to a famous face, so much so that we didn't recognize her at first. Miranda Kerr has been given a serious case of the smoky eye, paired with voluminous bedhead and pouty pink lips (seriously, they're almost Lana Del Rey-size).

Between that and the weighty, semi-matronly wrap dress, Miranda looks significantly older than her 28 years, not to mention worse for the wear, which we know she most certainly is not.

We don't mind the occasional dark makeup, but Miranda's strongest suit is her youthful, fresh-faced appeal -- why not keep it that way, Haute Muse?

That's a matronly dress? Yeah, sure, but I think you're just saying that cause the magazine bills itself as "from the Middle East" and you feel like it MUST be matronly, 'cause isn't that what goes on in the ME? She looks like Miranda Kerr in a slinky bejewled dress.

Are you kidding me? Or is this criticism just because the magazine is supposedly coming out of the Middle East. I mean the 'Guess Who' teaser was comical, i clicked on it because I thought it was someone OTHER than Miranda Kerr. She is an exceedingly beautiful face done up in a different way. She still looks like her. ANd since when does dressing properly mean matronly??? Legs, boobs and butt do not have to be hanging out to look young

Ellie should get out more often. There is more to fashion and beauty than the US. The makeup reflects the culture of the area. She looks like Miranda Kerr, just with more makeup that what she wears in VS. Get with the program.

I'm starting to wonder why I even bother to read any of these so-called "style" articles, when usually they are so full of silliness and misinformation it's comical.
