Within several month of a drawdown in Afghanistan we'll be back attempting to clear the mess all over again.

We have now hit the full Vietnamzation of this war. The local people are too fragmented to be brought together or forced together for their own defensive good. And then you have the corruption and dissension in the very ranks of Afghani Police and military. While out on the frontier and just across the border (remember Laos ...) lurks a VERY DETERMINED foe. We were carpet bombing the North Vietnamese weekly for months ... it did not matter. The South Vietnamese could not get their collective act together. A disaster that cost thousands of US soldiers lives and ruined many who survived.

The Us Military has to get it into their collective heads that if the locals cannot be a cohesive force then you are just peeing money and lives into the dirt. Its really very simple, until we move out the Afghanis have no reason to unify. If you recall, there was a Northern Alliance of Afghans fighting against the Taliban. Sadly, they need to fight this fight and we can arm them and run some drone attacks. This is a cursed region of the earth, no amount of US treasure will change that ...

This whole Afghanistan thing has sure turned into a mess. It would be nice if we (the American people) could tell our representatives to get out now but they don't represent us (the American people) anymore. The military industrial complex has a much louder voice in what will be done and where and when, and in secret. It used to be congress that should decide who we would go to war against, back in the days when this country was run under the rules and guidelines of the Constitution. It seems the CIA has taken over that responsibility. Is there any way to vote them out of power?

Really, why should Pakistan be cutoff oh wait hilarious cutoff a Nuclear State with 200 Nukes so it can take a nasty turn at WW3 starting off with hitting Israel, and who will deal with China that considers Pakistan as its israel on record. Wonder your fans must also be goofies like you. did you not read my post below earlier on it was US that introduced Jihadi manuals to the afghans and taught them the dirty tricks that is haunting the whole world now. Long gone are the days to cutoff Pakistan remember Pakistan has cut off Russian the big bad bear into pieces and look at how same Pakistan has made the US literally to beg for logistics and supplies as the routes are closed, hahahah now go cutoff your internet and sleep.

Nonesense..Israel and Pakistan have normalized relations and get along just fine...and have for years. try Googling Pakistan-Israel intelligence relations. Nice try, but you know nothing about the middles east..

Pakistan has India on its border dying for the chance to wipe the country out, which they can easily do.

The purpose of our aid is for co-operation, they sell Nuclear knowledge around the world to the highest bidder like Norht Korea. DO you really think Pakistan is holding back because ofour annula Aide Package?? really? a few Billion Dollars to a country with 178 million People means nothing..its peanuts. Their GDP is around 400 Billion.

Pakistan has had Nukes since the 1970's and the warhead count is around 100..not 200. If they indicated for a second they were going to use them, China and India would swat them like a fly....

Pakistan has proven itself unreliable as a friend...they will and can do nothing..

Your as bad as the side you despise. The people in that part of the world will now begin to experience a nuclear build up. Just as the world should be screaming that they all be destroyed, instead it will be business as usual and proliferation will become the word of the day. The world has learned nothing from the Radioactive warning call that Japan is going through. This power is something the world would be better off not having........bc

Our country would be better served by using special Op’s teams and drones in Afghanistan.

Fifty special Op teams could replace thousands of our troops. We need surgical strikes that get the job done in a very short time. No need for large bases or billions spent on building them or the equipment needed to support them.

I fully agree, we should have learned our lesson after watching the Russians basically getting tossed out on their rear by goat herders.

The lesson is, “We do not win incursions.” World wars yes, but we are not up to “Nation Building.”

The sad part is our bumper sticker should read, “War is good business.”

Part 2: Here is part 2 truth to how US created all the mess inside afghanistan that is back to hunt the world.

Former CIA Afghan Dir Taskforce in his very own words Mr. Frank Anderson says : " On the Other hand constant under current of understanding that while we were providing means to wage this war they were waging And that It is entirely True It is a War that was fought with our Goal but with their blood.", Regan Administration increased it covert military supply to mujahedin now terrorist/talibans.
On the record, US National Security Advisor Brzezinski said he they were ready to Arm then mujahedin without revealing america's role.

Again on the record Mr. Brzezinski asks and tells on the camera to those afghan fighters Calling them Soliders of God to double their efforts.
His words "We know of their deep belief in God that We are confident that their struggle will succeed. Pointing finger in a direction; he says "That Land over there is yours, you will go back to it one day because your fight will prevail and you will have your homes and mosques because your cause is right and God is on your side."
Read above Brzezinski keeping bringing in God, stressing jihad in those afghans..

Now its not Pakistan its US to be blamed, America needs to do more to kill the monster it created in afghanistan during soviet-afghan war.

The US created nothing.Afghanistan as most other countries in that region of the world will be how they wish to be. We invited ourselves to go into Afghanistan and Pakistan to kill those who attacked America, and those who decided to protect the murderous cowards who flies plains into buildings killing many innocent people. If Afghanistan wanted to do the right thing they would have handed over Bin Laden and closed his training bases. They did not. So we did. Now it is past time to leave those countries.....bc

You go back and read what I wrote, I've posted the reality the truth of US Govts whatever in the world is today is full of terrorists/terrorism is all due to the US. US Govt has funded, trained equip and transported terrorists and terrorism across the globe. Listen up its not about 9-11 its goes back to 1979-1980 when US in hopes to defeat russiana created these jihadi terrorists with everything US Govt had and if now they are flying around and blowing up places the finger points at US and only US. Pakistan and Afghanistan were peaceful places there was no concept of Jihad in these areas pre to soviet-afghan war no drugs no weapons and no terrorism concept it was US that introduced and infact the jihadi manuals were distributed by US during soviet afghan war. Mate i have good contact will Military men you have absolutely no idea, stop blaming others blame yourselves 3000 people died in 9-11 is regrettable and sad but don't forget 40,000 People died in Pakistan because of WAR ON TERROR that was not our War in Pakistan, blame goes to US. US needs to find ways to fix the monster it created. It ain't gonna die soon with the Wars you need to sit with them you need to educate Afghans and you need to stop supporting terrorists to achieve objectives against Pakistan-China-Russia.

Ok before Arikan fans points fingers at Pakistan let me explain it here to put certain people to shame with evidence!

It's gonna be in two parts.

Part 1: Blame goes to US for introducing Jihad-Terrorism finger points at US not Pakistan..

CIA chief and US National Security Advisor Brzezinski (in 1980's early) on the borders of afghanistan telling those afghan tribesmen your God is true God fight the russians. Mujahedin religious fanatics extremist with massive funding and weapons were created by US Govt with the help of CIA before someone comes out to whine look into your own doing and accept it had you not done that Pakistan would not have been in such a situation during and after afghan war. The era of 60's and 70's was similar to Turkey with no so called islamist or fanatics it only came into production line with thankful contribution from US.

It was Regan who stepped up Aid to the Afghan Rebels or so called Jihadists/ now Taliban and their various networks.

Part two continues after this...

Pakistan is very concerned about India. Pakistan to Afghanistan is not much different than Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos during the Vietnam War. Nixon when crossing into Cambodia had the NV on the run all the way to Phnom Pen when he pulled our forces back from the borders. Pakistan gets aid from the US, are they reciprocating? With Bin Laden and other sanctuaries used by our opposition, it's questionable. If you have to pay for friends, can you define or truly identify them as such? Opportunist exist in every nation of this world. They can be difined as Pirates, extortionist, whatever. We put one in power in Afghanistan, and when we leave, he will also, with billions of American dollars supporting his new life style, in a country of his choice. We haven't learned from our mistakes.
09:42 AM on 02/25/2012
As an addendum to my previous post, I know the Soviets were fighting the Afghani's but is there any difference when you get into an area where no one really knows where this country starts and that one stops? The people of these regions are members of clans, not of governments.
09:36 AM on 02/25/2012
Well, that seems about right. The Soviets weren't able to root out these guys, what makes anyone think we can be any more successful? There is a reason that area is about 20 minutes removed from the 16th century. They like it just like that. No law except their own, the rule of violence, oppression and fear. These backward warlords can't have any advancement in anything or they could lose their hold on their little kingdoms. There are numerous books expressing this and they have been around for a long time. Someone in the military/government should have read these books also before they decided how to go after these guys...or not. I am in no way saying that we did not need to do anything, but it is clear that our efforts over the last 10 years could have been more fruitful...or not.
10:32 AM on 02/25/2012
Correction...Soviet invaded Afghanistan even rooting out those people was illegal you don't have right to come and kill people who fight for freedom of their land over taken by Invaders which previously was Russian and now US-NATO. Afghanistan before soviert war was OK and not as you think them to be from 1st century B.C, It was US who approached with funds, training all help and weapons that created monsters out of them and the terrorism was born that is the fault of UN and US. Do some research.

Correction, You do not harbor those who killed 3000 + Americans in a terror attack and expect we will not come in and get them . Like it or not that is the bottom line. The Northern Alliance who held considerable sway in parts of Afghanistan hailed the US and coalition as partners in battling the Taliban. Tell the whole truth as to just the part that supports your aims............bc
07:20 AM on 02/27/2012
Well, clearly. The problems there were brought there but outside forces but to try and say that the warlords in Afghanistan don't purposely keep the countryside in the dark ages to keep their power is only being short sighted. How are you gonna keep them on the poppy farm when they've seen the big city?

Staying on topic here, Pakistan is one of our "friends" We need them, they need us sort of relationship. However, most also know they aren't really a "friend" So this cable seems to have come from someone who must have had his head so deep in the sand he was left out of the reality party. Our Ambassador to Afghanistan has just now figured out we are dealing with pirates in Pakistan ? That is much bigger news than his cable. There was a short segment on CNN the day OBL was taken out, and it was taken from a local news station in Pakistan. The local reporter was shocked that OBL was living in secret for so long in the same neighborhood that the person he was interviewing lived in. Here is why. The area OBL lived in, in Pakistan was completely protected by the Pakistani Army. Completely controlled and guarded by the Pakistani Army. In this interview the local resident talked about the gate each person needs to go through to enter the neighborhood controlled by the Army. The local was in shock, with the reporter that OBL had lived there , and the only way he could have lived there was if the Pakistani Army was protecting him. So Mr. Ambassador WTF?
Aren't you a little late to this party?
