Viola Davis' Style Evolution (PHOTOS)

Huffington Post     First Posted: 02/26/2012 7:44 am EST   Updated: 02/26/2012 5:48 pm EST

We’ve got Viola fever!

Although the talented actress is no newbie, Viola Davis has literally taken Hollywood by storm this year with her breakout role in “The Help.”

She has already picked up a SAG award, Critic's Choice award, an NAACP Image award--and with the Oscars just hours away she could be bringing home one of the coveted gilded men as well.

Thanks to a recent string of head-turning moments on the red carpet, the 46-year-old also deserves some praise when it comes to her exceptional style. Davis' radiant skin and fit physique are the perfect canvas for the bold colors and sexy (yet sophisticated) silhouettes that the star loves to wear.

Davis is officially on our style radar and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store. In the meantime, here’s a look at some of her best fashion moments over the past few years.

Viola was nominated for a possible win. She's wonderful in a movie that whitewashed a very bad period of America.

Black folk get Oscars for playing -
1. Drug using dirty cop - Denzel
2. Hattie McDaniel - Mammy
3. Halle Berry - Sex scene with a white guy
4. Monique - Horrible fat cigarette smoking, cussin' Mother
Let's keep this thing all the way real.....some Black folk don't feel they are validated or have arrived until they have received the coveted Oscar...but I aint mad at 'em.

Viola Davis- Simply Beautiful..and talented..muscular arms..but hey..better than flab...lol.....Most of the outfits are really nice...but I love love love her natural hair.

Amen. There are creditable roles that Black people have mastered other than the ones listed in the post above that have been overlooked through the years. It's ashamed that some people (not just White people) have to keep their foot on someone's neck to try to keep them down. If these people were truly secure in themselves they would not need to behave in this way.

BTW, Ms. Davis looks far more lovely (and younger) in her natural hair than the wigs, although she has rocked some of the wigs too. It's also ashamed that Black women have historically been told that their hair is the least attractive of all the tresses worldwide. What God has made He considers beautful! Her husband's comment was insightful and adoring. Loved it!
People need to stop giving these other folks so much power to determine their worth! God Bless!

#36 looks nothing like her.

She has the unique quality of looking like a TOTALLY different person with each new hairstyle or make-up. Sometimes she is downright unrecognizable.

Was that Viola Davis who played the prison minister in Tyler Perry's movie, Madea Goes To Jail?

And if she wins there will be the PREDICTABLE AND TIRED "PC this and PC that" from white people. I'm agnostic about the whole thing though.

Her skin looks so luscious and beautiful in pastels, particularly pinks, light blues and yellows. I hope she sticks to this bright look tonight at the Oscars where she'll probably bring home the prize.

I was very disappointed that she didn't win, frankly, but I haven't yet seen the Thatcher movie. I adore Viola Davis. She's magnificent and gifted.
