The developing tale of Alameda County Supervisor Nadia Lockyer and her husband, California State Treasurer Bill Lockyer, has thickened, as the San Francisco Chronicle reported the existence of an extramarital sex tape allegedly featuring Nadia and her former lover.
On February 3, police responded to a 911 call from a hotel room where Nadia had been the victim of an assault that required medical attention.
According Bill Lockyer, the attacker was an ex-boyfriend whom he claimed had been stalking his wife. (The San Jose Mercury News identified the man as Stephan Chikhani of San Jose.) However, after further investigation, authorities found that Nadia and Chikhani may have been involved in a consensual extramarital relationship.
Chikhani alleged that he had been involved with Nadia since the two met at a rehabilitation center in 2010 -- the same year that Nadia was elected as Alameda County Supervisor. Chikhani claimed that he was invited to Nadia's hotel room on February 3, and that Nadia instigated a fight over his relationship with another woman.
The San Jose Mercury News uncovered a text message from Nadia sent to Chikhani on December 26 that read:
THE LAST 3 MONTHS U PUT ME THRU HELL N BACK – N MORE. YOU WILL SEE N FEEL THE PAIN YOUR LIES HAVE INFLICTED IN MY HEART SOUL EVERY MOMENT YOU FIND YOURSELF ALONE OR BORED WITH ANOTHER.
On February 14, Nadia admitted to the affair and announced that she would was submitting herself to a treatment center, according to the Contra Costa Times.
"Alcoholism and addiction are diseases from which many of us suffer, and unfortunately, I have not been spared," she said in the announcement. "With the strong encouragement of the people in my life who love me, including my husband, my family and my friends, I decided to get help and treatment."
And finally on Sunday, the Chronicle's Phillip Matier and Andrew Ross reported that Bill Lockyer received a sex tape featuring Nadia and Chikhani about six weeks before the hotel room incident. According to the Chronicle, Bill believed that Chikhani may go public with the video if forced to discontinue the affair.
Reportedly, Bill contacted Chikhani's father regarding the affair and the tape. The Chronicle reported:
Bill Lockyer also contacted the father of Nadia Lockyer's male acquaintance, telling him that his wife and the man's son were in a "bad relationship" that had to end.
We're told the father offered to help in destroying any copies of the sex tape and compromising photos that might be on his son's computer or elsewhere - but then there was no follow-up.
The Lockyers did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the tape from The Huffington Post.
