It was as if Crystal was preserved in time like Austin Powers, thawed out for the 84th Annual Academy Awards, and recycled past bits without trying at all to show off something fresh and new.
As much as I loved Billy Crystal as Jodie Dallas in "SOAP", I knew his style of comedy would be way too OUTDATED for the year 2012. That said, however, I did check in from time to time just to catch glimpses of George Clooney (lol). Unfortunately, on one of those 'glimpses' I realized that my prediction was indeed accurate, catching the punchline to a Very Lame Billy Crystal joke - i.e. something about black people not living in Beverly Hills? - UGH! That may have caught a laugh 30 years ago Billy, but these days it's just ridiculous, not at all funny, somewhat embarrassing and YES VERY LAME! The Academy needs to stick with more contemporary comedians ....
