Sleeping Hummingbird Snores Just Like We Do (VIDEO)

Sleeping Hummingbird

Okay, so the little lady isn't technically snoring -- but she's still adorable.

Reddit users got an unexpected treat this weekend when a video of a sleeping hummingbird -- a female Amethyst-throated Sunangel to be exact -- spread like wildfire on the site's front page.

But bird-savvy users were quick to point out that the critter's sweet snores seemed pretty out of character for our feathered friends.

To clear up the confusion, uploader forrestertr7 explained on YouTube that the hummingbird was filmed during an ornithological experiment that involved measuring the birds' oxygen intake.

"And yes, I know its not actually snoring, it just kinda sounds like it," the uploader said.

And don't worry, forrestertr7 also assured users that no birds were harmed or stressed in any way during the experiment.

Check out another little hummingbird's extreme slumber below:

People who liked the above video might like this one of a baby sloth getting treated for mange:

Sloths are so cute. But they are so slow that I wonder how they manage to survive in the wild. It seems like they would be easy prey. They are so docile that I can't imagine one biting someone. But that may be a bit naive. I don't really know much about them.

We have to place several feeders out, they dive bomb each other trying to get the food. They are adorable. Always flying into the garage by mistake and then we have to help them out here in South Carolina... They usually appear on Tax day every year.

Gee, I wish my husband could snore like that. He just chooses to snore like a roaring motorcycle that can be heard downstairs in my laundry room....

So very sorry to hear that. There is always heavy pressure with a pillow over the face. My wife has tried that with me several times.

The reason hummers feed so often? I've heard them described as a Ferrari with a one-gallon gas tank...

Those birds are totally zonked. Wish I could get rest like that again. I haven't been in that state since my teen years.
