Arizona State University in Tempe AZ should head the list - it gets very hot there in the summer.

These lists are only as viable as the raters and where they're from. Obviously just people from the East Coast and mid-West. All but two colleges of 21 listed here are on or east of the Mississippi River. Hello, California and Texas are the two biggest states in our country. Somebody's thinking is that the two most powerful and populace states in our country aren't the 'place to be'. I'll take a wild guess and say that most of these 'raters' have never been to either state, must less the many dozens of high quality and 'hot' universities there...

Vanderbilt University--a great school, wonderful financial aid, great city, beautiful campus, and many opportunities to prepare kids for future success. A jewel of the South !

I've helped three kids find their colleges and am starting the process with our youngest. All these lists of "hot colleges" are silly. I hope nobody involved in a college search takes a list like this seriously--that would be a good way for a young person to waste a year of more of their life and lots of money in an unhappy college experience, while halfway across the country or 50 miles down the road is a school that would have been right for them but wasn't "hot" that particular year.

Possibly the worst list I've ever seen. Ever.
U of M? George Washington?
Yeah. This was put together by college advisers trying to sell the "You're not quite Ivy smart, but don't go to that party school and have fun!" colleges.

Twenty-one colleges listed and only THREE are west of the Mississippi? I'm getting a sharp whiff of East Coast bias. My picks would include Stanford, CalTech, UC Berkeley, Univ of Arizona, Reed College, and University of Washington.

For everybody wondering what being on this list event means, according to InsideCollege.com (the people who compiled the list), "Any school on this list is the place to be. They are our experts' choice for schools most popular with students." At InsideCollege.com, you can read about who their experts are, but they boil it down to "high school counselors, admission representatives, educational planners, and other industry pros."
