George Lopez Sitcom

George Lopez is eyeing a return to TV. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former late night host and star of ABC's "George Lopez" is close to signing a deal similar to Charlie Sheen's latest contract.

If Lopez signs, he'd star in 10 episodes for Debmar-Mercury, a subsidiary of Lionsgate. If the sitcom, which he will co-create, takes off in the ratings, the production company would order 90 additional episodes.

Sheen's "Anger Management" sitcom follows the same model, as has Tyler Perry's TBS sitcoms.

I saw one of his skits where he encourages Mexican children to steal from other kids. The rest was about adults stealing. He has a weak ethical structure all around and indoctrinates children through comedy. He doesn't see it because it is part of his culture.
09:38 PM on 02/29/2012
No, it's not part of his culture. Everything you see on TV and in movies is created by the people who write the checks. They are the ones who create and perpetuate those stereotypes. If minorities had the power to greenlight projects you wouldn't see this racist garbage.

But the audience was going wild. They loved it. So the people who write the checks know what his people like.

There is a new sitcom on TV about this Hispanic family. Cheech plays the father. I love it and I'm Italian but see that our families have the same problems with in laws. I bust a gut watching it. I can pick out my own aunts and uncles. It's delightfully ethnic.

There is something dark in Lopes's humor.

I believe it IS part of his culture and the culture of the people who enjoy watching him. He made it clear that stealing is an accepted part of that culture, like an inside joke or something. It's not that the whole Hispanic culture is like that, only his particular culture and his particular audience.

My neighbor is Hispanic and I couldn't have a nicer neighbor or friend.

That's great. The world needs more George Lopez. I can't wait to see him on TV again.

in 2030 I will be a minority only difference I still won't be a racist.

Hispanic-origin population in the US would contribute 32 percent of the Nation's population growth from 1990 to 2000, 39 percent from 2000 to 2010, 45 percent from 2010 to 2030, and 60 percent from 2030 to 2050.

Stewie on the Family guy said, "I don't watch George Lopez, I don't like his show. It just re-inforces the stereotype that George Lopez is funny.
12:59 AM on 02/29/2012
If you loose your show due to low ratings, doesn't that tell you something? Then to come back as another show with almost the same people, just how long will that show continue?
