Tyler Perry Joins Search To Find Terrance Williams And Felipe Santos (VIDEO)

Tyler Perry Al Sharpton

Actor, director and producer Tyler Perry has joined the efforts in finding two missing Florida men who both disappeared under similar circumstances. The media mogul recently made an appearance on MSNBC’s political talk show “Politics Nation with Al Sharpton” to discuss the cases of Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos, who both disappeared eight years ago. Both men were last seen after encountering an arrest by Collier County police officer, Steven Calkins.

“I was just watching television, and I never watch it because I’m always busy,” Perry explained to Sharpton on discovering the missing reports. “But I was watching this story on ‘Investigation Discovery,’ and I was just blown away because the last person to see him alive is this deputy, Steven Calkins, from what I understand. And as I’m watching the show, the story goes on that there was another man, Felipe Santos, who disappeared a few months before Terrance did. The last person to see him alive is the same sheriff. There’s a lot of conflicting stories and I’m just trying to help his mother find some justice.”

For Williams’ mother, Marcia, having Perry on board in an attempt to find her son is an “angel that God had sent” her way and she cannot thank him enough for his assistance.

"We all should be outraged," Perry continued, "This is the kind of stuff that would happen in the 60's and earlier where black people would disappear and just be disregarded and never heard from again. And there is somebody that knows something about it…He has children that miss him. This is his mother who misses and love him. Felipe Santos, he has family and is from Mexico. And I just think it’s unfair. I just want to see justice be done and be served here. We got to do something to he help her.”

I just watched this story on ID and found this link. Of all of the the episodes of "Disappeared" that are unsolved, this one disturbs me the most. I think Tyler Perry's amazement at the lack of public outrage is well-stated. That's why I started looking for other links. I thought, "am I missing something?" I love "Disappeared," but the lack of resolution seemed to disregard or even minimize the value of these two young men's lives. I realize that there may be more pieces to these puzzles that may be missing; however, I can't help but believe (based on the racially slanted comments between the officer and the dispatcher) that this wreaks of a hate crime toward minorities.

How on earth can this have gone for 8 years with no more publicity that it is just now getting. I am a caucasion male, and I am sick from what I just saw. I hope this case gets more public attention. Impressive stance by Tyler Perry, but it is unfortunate that it took a celebrity to say what is so obvious...this case is almost like embracing a trek back to the 1960's. That just can't be something that anyone finds to be acceptable.

Thanks for taking time to help these families! They deserve much more support than they have been getting.

Once again ... in Florida ... If two white men went missing under similar circumstances the story would run 24/7 on the corporate media until there were answers.

Corrupt, racist cops know they can get away with abuse and murder. They should check the guys backyard and his home, he's probably a serial killer in uniform.

It seems the lives of people of color hold no value in our country. I've been watching a show on BET (or TV1) called Find Our Missing.
When African-American men, women and children go missing law enforcement have little interest in investigating the cases for any period of time.

I remember watching this story on one of the Investigation Discovery shows. I was amazed that after an investigation of Steven Calkins (from an outside police department if my memory is correct) Calkins was found "innocent." However both missing men were last seen with Calkins.

It just might take a celebrity like Tyler Perry to bring national attention to this case.

Good luck!

Ladies and Gentlemen, times are getting tough, and will continue to get tougher. Latino and Black Parents need to teach the children about these issues, and others affecting us at a young age.

They have to be taught that about not buying the fanciest clothes, or the newest sneakers out, because in the end they will only be supporting those who could care less about them.

Instead of purchasing the newest sneaker that comes out, take that $200.00 and buy a decent pair of sneakers for $50.00 and take the balance of that money and open a savings account, or college fund for these children. This will give them a head start in life when they become of age.

How does this comment relate to this article? Two men went missing on different occasions after being seen with the same cop.

This cop knows what happened to them. Their families deserve answers.

why are you generalizing black children like they're the only ones who make those kinds of purchases? Why not the white child who buys videos games with his money? Why not the kids who shop at Abercrombie & Fitch or Hollister? Why not the asian kids who like to buy fancy clothes? Don't attribute this to one race, there are enough stereotypes to go around as you can see?

Al Shapton continues to help Blacks and other racial groups in America when mainstream American Whites turn a blind eye to justice.

You are correct Black Female Commenter....and he's been doing a good job at it.....Wow, I remember him from Brooklyn years ago.....

@King7David

Wow you went way back (a month ago) and read this post. I think I remember you.

I agree with you. Al Sharpton does a lot of good and puts his life on the line to do it. Too bad there's a need for him in this capacity, but we live in a fallable world.

Well, yours is the last reply that I will receive from HP. I've decided to discontinue replies. I have important tasks to attend to. Thanks for your POSITIVE comment.

Take care . . . . F&F

Al Sharpton is nothing but a race-baiter who instigates trouble. He and his ilk will play the race card every chance they get.

He's not too fond of whites which makes him every bit the racist he claims to despise.

Go ahead;flame away and call me a racist. I know it's coming.

Please sign the petition to renew the investigation into the disappearance of Terrance and Felipe! Everytime you sign, an email is sent to local authorities. Thank you so much. My brother was killed by a policeman a few years ago and not knowing what happened to your loved one is the worst thing that can happen to anybody.

Al Sharton is suppose to join Tyler trying to find answers about these young men which is tragic. I could not even imagine what their mothers are going through. I do hope Tyler can bring some closure to these two missing men. I have written Al Sharpton about my son and other people too and he did'nt do a damn thing. Now here comes Tyler on Sharton's show bringing attention and he's interested. How two-faced is that!

Please, whomever knows about the disappearance of these two men, report your concerns to Al Sharpton, + Tyler Perry. Do not limit your report for the police, as it appears they are involved in the cover up. Go to another state and report. File a report with each and every missing person bureau. Someone knows and eventually with new light shining they may not be as fearful as they were originally. This is especially true since the cop no longer works there.

Thank goodness black and missing inc. and folks like mike baisden are doing things to counter the white-woman inclined media. I have to say, and I'm ashamed to admit, I stopped caring what happened to Natalie Halloway out of pure resentment. It was disgusting.

Me too. I got so sick of hearing about Natalie. I never even followed the story.

They never found her body, yet her parents procured powerful people to get justice for Natalie, indirectly. Talk about white privilege.

My gut tells me 100% that there was no murder in Peru. It was a set-up. That Peruvian girl is still alive. Her real name is not what was broadcast. Van der Sloot was suppose to confess where Natalie was in order to beat the Peruvian rap. He called their bluff and now he has to serve time on a Peruvian murder that never happened.
