From rumored biopics to a live-streamed funeral, the late Whitney Houston has been the subject of a great deal of press attention lately.

So why are Target stores scrambling to get her out of their stores as quickly as possible?

Prior to the singer's passing, the company had a greeting card on its shelves that read, "Next time you think of dating the bad boy, consider Whitney Houston. That's all I'm going say."

As soon as the news of Houston's death hit, Target stores quickly began working to remove the card.

"The card was in our stores prior to Houston's death," a Target rep told TMZ. "As soon as this was brought to our attention, we began the process of removing the card from all applicable stores."

Head over to TMZ to see the card in question.

Do you think Target's greeting card is offensive? Let us know in the comments.

I'm not sure i see the humor in a card laughing at a woman who was dragged down into drugs and beaten by a drug addict loser? Why is that fun?

So if she was still alive the cards would still be for sale? I will never understand how supposedly we can say the nastiest things about and to people when they're alive but once they're dead we must never speak ill of the dead.

Its just about being respectful. For example, I think artists like Taylor Swift and Justin Beiber are annoying, however if they were to die, I wouldn't speak ill of them. Also since they can not defend their actions its best to just keep quiet of dead people. I keep this rule with family and friends too.

It might be a better rule to speak kindly when the person is alive, when it actually matters

I think the living deserve more respect as what you say can actually hurt them.

OMG that's funny.

I wish I could have bought several before Target pulled them.

It is sad that a chain as large as target would allow something so disrespectful in their stores! No creativity in that author!

They weren't funny when she was alive, so they sure aren't funny now.

If she was alive when they printed it, why would it be offensive? Even after her death, it's true.
02:02 PM on 03/02/2012
Why scramble to pull the "offensive" cards just because she's dead? Why is that it's only offensive once she's in the hereafter? They didn't mind the offensive cards being on the shelves right in front of her face when she was alive, so why the sudden change of heart? If anything, they should have shown her more respect in the living. That's the problem with so many people. They show no respect or courtesy to others when they're here on earth (when it actually MATTERS). They wait until they're dead to start acting like they give a sh*t...which by then it DOESN'T matter either way.

Considering how many things the HuffPo headline writers consider shocking, I can only surmise that they need to replace the shag carpeting in their offices with something that doesn't build up static electricity.
