Michelle Obama Veterans Dinner 2012: Beautiful In Blue! (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Michelle Sparkles In Her Favorite Color!

When it comes to wardrobe selection, we all have our go-to colors: many New Yorkers like us default to black, while our friends from Florida always resort (no pun intended) to bright shades of pink and green.

And now we have a hunch as to which hue First Lady Michelle Obama goes to as her backup for formal wear: a deep, vivid blue, which she's recently worn in gown form to the 2012 state dinner and the Kennedy Center Honors.

Luckily, she always looks stellar in it.

FLOTUS donned the color again in a sleeveless Jason Wu gown (punched up with sparkly Suzanna Dai earrings) to attend Wednesday night's military dinner at the White House, held in honor of Iraq war veterans. As Vice President Biden, the First Lady and the crowd feasted on tomato and basil salad, dry aged ribeye with bearnaise and chocolate creme brulee, President Obama saluted the present 200 veterans and their guests who gathered from all over the country, saying:

"In a culture that celebrates fame and fortune, yours are not necessarily household names. You are something more: the patriots who served in our name. And after nearly nine years in Iraq, tonight is an opportunity to express our gratitude and to say once more, welcome home."

A noble event indeed.
