SXSW 2012: International Bands And Where They're From (INFOGRAPHIC)

This month, bands from around the world are heading to Texas for the South By Southwest festival. Known as a launching pad for musical careers (and Twitter!), the massive arts and tech festival brings in acts hailing from as far away as Africa, and as close to home as Austin, where it's held.

To document this yearly migration into the Lone Star state, wireless hi-fi creators Sonos created a nifty infographic using colors and numbers to block out where in the world the performers call home. There's the obvious of course: the U.S. dominates, and the Brits seem to be launching a second invasion (a trend that has not gone unnoticed by the hawk-eyed SXSW panelists!), but there are also mysteries to consider. Will the lone Chinese band and the lone Taiwanese band get along? And since when are Ireland and Wales not included in the United Kingdom?

We've embedded the infographic below, which also includes a map of the U.S. bands' origins. For a larger version, click here or on the link above the image, or head to Sonos' blog.
