There are no major injuries at Henryville High School in Henryville, Ind., after a tornado blew through today, causing significant damage to the building, WDRB TV reports.

Despite initial reports of some people being trapped inside the school, officials have now said that was not the case.

The Courier-Journal reports students were kept at the school as the storm approached and that they suffered only minor injuries such as cuts and bruises.

The entire town of Henryville has incurred significant damage, and Clark County Sheriff Department's Maj. Chuck Adams told the Associated Press the nearby town of Marysville is "completely gone."

So far, WTHR reports that at least four people have been killed by the storms in southern Indiana, according to authorities.

How grateful the community must be that no children were killed. They might have been much safer at the school than had they sent the kids home.

I just found out that they dismissed the kids 15 minutes before the tornado hit
(source: http://www.cnn.com/2012/03/02/us/severe-weather/?hpt=us_c1). That's why there were buses tossed all over the place.

Several of the high school kids were interviewed on one of the IN affiliates and they were very angry that they were not released from school sooner. They should have canceled class altogether and treated it as a snow day.

The kids are lucky to be alive considering the poor steps that were taken by the Henryville school system. School systems in other counties in IN, KY, and etc. were dismissing kids several hours before the storms hit. Henryville should have done the same.
