Britain's Prince Harry Boogies In Belize (PHOTOS)

03/ 3/12 09:00 AM ET  AP

LONDON -- Prince Harry has kicked off his visit to Belize with rum and dancing in Belmopan, the central American nation's capital.

Harry is in Belize as part of a Diamond Jubilee tour in honor of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who is celebrating 60 years on the throne.

The prince on Friday helped unveil the newly named "Queen Elizabeth II Boulevard," and then attended a block party, where he sampled the local rum and tasted local dishes.

Sporting a traditional Belize shirt, Harry also showed off his dance moves to the delight of the gathered crowd.

Harry will later visit the Bahamas, Jamaica and Brazil as a representative for the Queen.

Most senior royals will be dispatched across the globe to celebrate the aging monarch's Diamond Jubilee.

Prince Harry's family is part of the constitutional fabric of 16 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Belize, etc. What Americans think of him, or them, isn't of any relevance.

Harry is a trained soldier and has been deployed in a war zone. He is having time off to support his granny and her position in this her Diamond Jubilee year. It is not a matter of supporting the monarchy, per se, but his father then his brother will also be Head of State of these 16 countries. Harry's current tour is not inappropriate in any way, shape or form.

Since when has any of Her Majesty's realms sneered at the US and its constitutional arrangements?

As for what has Harry 'done for humanity' - quite a lot, if you're an AIDS orphan in Lesotho.

Now that's a bit of a stretch (well intentioned though it may have been).

First, I love Belize. I visited that little country a few years ago and fell in love with the people and the country. Second, prince Harry is looking better that ever!
