Jazz Top Heat: LeBron James Passes To Udonis Haslem On Final Possession (VIDEO)

03/ 3/12 12:14 AM ET  AP

SALT LAKE CITY -- Devin Harris converted a three-point play with 4.5 seconds left and the Utah Jazz snapped the Miami Heat's nine-game winning streak with a 99-98 victory on Friday night.

LeBron James had 35 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots for Miami, but passed on the final possession to Udonis Haslem, who missed a long jumper at the buzzer.

Dwyane Wade chipped in 31 points and six rebounds. Shane Battier also added 18 points for the Heat (28-8), who were playing without All-Star Chris Bosh.

Al Jefferson came up with 20 points and six rebounds to lead the Jazz (17-18) to their second straight win. Five other players scored in double figures for Utah, led by C.J. Miles with 14 points off the bench.

James led a big fourth-quarter rally, making the go-ahead 3-pointer and then adding a long jumper to give the Heat a 97-94 lead with 26 seconds left. Miami had a chance to put it away, but Wade missed a free throw down the stretch and that put Harris in a position to tie the game or give the Jazz the lead.

Utah dominated Miami in the first half in a fashion. The Jazz collected 29 rebounds compared to 13 for Miami. They grabbed two more offensive rebounds than the total rebounds the Heat collected as a team. Utah totaled 36 points in the paint versus 14 for Miami and scored 20 second-chance points compared to five for the Heat.

Battier burned the Jazz from the perimeter throughout the first quarter. The veteran forward buried all four 3-pointers he attempted in the first quarter and it helped the Heat carve out a 21-16 lead. Miami needed every one of those points to keep pace with a Utah team that sliced to the basket at will and controlled the paint early.

The Jazz had 16 points in the paint in the first quarter alone. They also scored seven second-chance points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Utah's effort around the glass paid off when Enes Kanter grabbed an offensive rebound, tossed up a short layup and converted the ensuing free throw to give the Jazz a 27-26 lead going into the second quarter.

Utah's dominance in the paint continued into the second quarter. Between a thundering dunk from Derrick Favors and layups from Kanter, Miles and Alec Burks, the Jazz picked apart Miami's interior defense and used an 18-4 run to take a 42-30 lead. A pair of jumpers from Jefferson and a driving layup by Harris helped push it to a 53-36 advantage for Utah with 2:21 left before halftime.

The Jazz pushed their lead to 74-56 midway through the third quarter after Gordon Hayward made three straight baskets and set up Harris on a 3-pointer to cap a 13-4 Utah run.

Miami rallied toward the end of the quarter behind Wade and James. Wade made a couple of key baskets to shift momentum back to the Heat. James built the pressure on the Jazz by answering every potentially big basket from Utah with one of his own.

James made six baskets over a five-minute stretch spanning the third and fourth quarters to cut the Jazz lead to 85-79 with 8:17 left. He accounted for 12 of 14 points scored during that stretch. He later made a pair of baskets on back-to-back possessions to tie it at 88 with 4:48 remaining.

We have a guard in CTOWN now,Kyrie Irving, you know what he would have done in that situation, game on the line,he would have juked one way dribbled toward the hoop and gave it his best shot, most of the time making it at least getting fouled and go to the line to win because he has more of the clutch gene then LeFrozen ever will.

Lebron has problems in the closing minutes; we know that. But I want to comment on D-Wade. Look at his musculature. He is on he juice, I promise you.
And he ain't the only one, because there is not much testing in the NBA.

The game seemed a bit unfortunate for the Le Bron James as he seemed really into the game but the fall after stepping on the old ladies sandal affected his game a bit http://liveoncampus.com/wire/show/3347871 this is where he falls.

In the second it took him to dish the ball, he also failed to find a plausible solution for peace in the Middle East.

There really is no way around it...LBJ needs to start taking these and he needs to start making them...his legacy will never get passed the naysayers unless he can put this to rest.

Lebron did not pass up the shot, he did what he was suppose to do, pass the ball to the open man after two or more players collapsed or converged on him!

# 6 passed to the open man... there is no story here...

I'm not at all a LeBron fan, nor especially a Miami Heat fan. But there's absolutely no doubt that LeBron is one of the most amazing athlete we've ever seen. He has been blessed with a incredible gift... But he just does not have that killer instinct like Michael, Larry, Magic, Kobe, and all of the great players that it takes to be called great!!! You can kid yourself all you want about him making the right play by passing the ball to Haslem... But we all know good and well the true right play was for him to shoot it himself. He was on a roll, hitting shots from all angles. And he could have easily rise up and shot the ball over the defender. A true great player would have!!! Its clear that it has become mental with LeBron. And unfair as it may seem at times, until he proves that he can hit that big shot when it truly counts... In the finals... His greatness will always be in question.

" but passed on the final possession to Udonis Haslem"
Yes, to the open player that had the shoot.

I'm a Mavs fan, never liked the Heat, like obnoxious Heat fans even less, but Lebron is the most maligned player I have ever seen.
He is a tremendous athlete. May he have a phenomenal career and win zero championships.

Lebron is an extraordinary athlete. The amount of vitriol directed toward him on sports sites is astounding. Let the shrinks explain it.

Indeed. I almost feel bad for him. He's brought some ire on himself, but not near as much as he gets. I respect the man's talent, though I'll be rooting against him every step of the way in the playoffs.

Agreed! He's such a complete player - the stat line tells the story. But the hatred is way over the top. I grew up in Cleveland and seriously some people just need to let go and enjoy some phenomenal basketball.

Not sure what you have against Heat fans. We love our team, we love our players. Our team beat you once in the Finals, you beat our team once in the Finals. I have NEVER heard a Heat fan not give due and proper credit to the Mavs for last seasons win. Actually, most if not all freely admit that the Mavs were a better "TEAM" last year. If anyone should have a beef it should be Heat fans (and we don't). It was in 2006 that Mark Cuban refused to give the Heat any credit for their win. It was all about the NBA and the refs cheating. He gave no respect to D Wade who put on a display in the finals unlike we have seen since MJ.

But.... I guess you might have your reasons. Valid or not.

Ha, yeah. I'll admit it's possible the only Heat fans I've come across could just be the bad eggs- I'm getting irritated (and almost embarrassed) by some of the "new" bandwagon Mavs fans, myself. It's like they haven't watched the sport until this year (see all the ridiculous Lamar Odom haters). On the same vein, there may be many bandwagon Heat fans who never watched until "the decision."
Shame that some of the dumbest "fans" can paint an ugly picture for the rest. As much as I have a bad taste from dealing with Heat fans in the past, I very much look forward to seeing Mavs/Heat games (who knows, could see another Finals soon enough). Fun new rivalry.

Lebron James can't do anything right in the eyes of his critics. Winning a championship is inevitable, when he does win a championship, then they will discredit him because it was with Wade and Bosh. It's common chatter by the basketball world that he is a choke artist since it was started by and when Dan Gilbert and Skip Bayless spoke of their distain for him. Since the public has no mind for themselves, now everyone refers to him as such like they felt that way all along.
