Things have been going pretty well professionally for Kenny Powers lately and he's back as a big star playing in Myrtle Beach, FL., which is why Roy wanted to meet with him.
Roy introduced Kenny to a young Russian pitcher named Ivan Dochenko. When they first met, Ivan said, "I grew up watching you as a boy," to which Kenny joked, "Don't try to date me, brother. I ain't that old!"
As a mark of how far Kenny's come since his crazy days in Mexico, Roy asked him to mentor the talented youngster, something that would have been unthinkable not that long ago.
"I want you to show him how a Big Leaguer does things," Roy said sincerely. But a reluctant Kenny wasn't so sure he wanted to take on the role of Ivan's Mr. Miyagi.
