Police in Wisconsin have recovered a body while searching for missing University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point student Eric Duffey.

Duffey, 21, was last seen about 1:15 a.m. Saturday leaving Joe's Bar in Stevens Point. The Fitchburg native had been celebrating his 21st birthday and was believed to be heading home when he left, police told the Huffington Post.

On Sunday, Stevens Point Assistant Police Chief Brian Kudronowicz told The Stevens Point Journal that searchers found evidence that led them to the river, but declined to elaborate, the newspaper reported.

This afternoon, divers found the body in the Wisconsin River near the Clark Street Bridge, not far from the bar Duffey visited Saturday.

In January, Michael Philbin, son of former Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin, was found dead in the Fox River in Oshkosh. The 21-year-old had been out that night with friends. Oshkosh is about 70 miles southeast of Steven’s Point.

The body found in the Wisconsin River has not been identified. There also has been no word on how long it will take the coroner's office to make a positive ID.

Duffey is 6 feet tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has red hair and green eyes. Duffey was last seen wearing an orange flannel shirt, blue jeans, a brown jacket, and possibly a gray and white stocking hat.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Stevens Point police at 715-346-1501.
