"Game Change," the movie dramatizing the 2008 McCain-Palin campaign, airs March 10 on HBO, but its two main characters won't be watching.
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) both have said they don't plan to catch the film.
"There's this new movie out," McCain told FOX Radio's Brian Kilmeade. "I won't watch it. I know it's based on a book that is totally unfair and untrue, especially to Sarah Palin. I want to repeat, if I could, my admiration and appreciation for Sarah Palin. She energized our party. I mean, let's have some straight talk - she energized more people than I did. She is a good and decent person and this continuing maligning of her by the liberal left is something that is reprehensible to me."
Palin, who is portrayed in the film by Julianne Moore, was also critical.
"I'm not going to go see the movie, neither is the good Sen. John McCain," she told Fox News. "We've discussed this and realized that Hollywood lies are Hollywood lies. They're going to do what they can to drum up their money and their machine, and their machine happens to be a very pro-leftist, pro-Barack Obama machine there at HBO that created this movie. And those campaign staffers who essentially threw John McCain under the bus, I think that they should feel some shame, and they should feel some embarrassment, because the movie is based on a false narrative, as you can see in the trailer."
Meg Stapleton, a former spokeswoman, said that she, unlike some of the others who worked with Palin during the campaign, had not been contacted by anyone associated with either the book or movie.
"They don't want to hear anything good," she said, her voice full of passion. "We all know Palin sells and the dramatization of Palin sells even more. This is sick."
"They mock Gov. Palin, you mock Gov. Palin, as weak and unable to cope and press forward," she told reporters on the conference call. "And the movie and the trailer ... say that. And yet look with your own eyes at what she and her family have endured and inspired over the last few years. Any lesser man would have hanged himself by now. So who's weak?
McCain and Palin's reactions to the film are the latest demonstrations of the sometimes testy relationship between real-life politicians and their Hollywood portrayals. Here's a look at a few other politicos who ended up on the silver screen:

A number of her former aides, however, saw the film, and posted this response on the Sarah PAC website:
Despite HBO's best efforts, we have all seen the movie Game Change. We stand by everything we previously said on the record. The movie is at best "historical fiction" - historical only in that Sarah Palin was nominated and campaigned for the office of Vice President. The movie is a series of scenes where the dialogue, locations and participants are invented or rendered unrecognizable for dramatic effect. HBO and its surrogates continue to argue that they spoke to 25 sources. None of them are on the record nor is their level of involvement in the campaign disclosed. Not one source is on the record in either the book or in the movie and it is clear why. The authors of the book never even traveled on the campaign with Governor Palin. We call on HBO to add the fiction disclaimer.

I think Sarah should marry Charlie Sheen. Both, in their "losing", were able to meander their way to the bank, laughing all the way. Why would she care about anything else?

You certainly shouldn't bother to see the movie Sarah. You might learn something. Except of course, being Sarah Palin, you are, as the movie points out, learning-challenged. In fact, you're learning averse, aren't you, Sarah.
Of course, Johnny Boy isn't suffering from excessive wattage either, is he?

I agree Sarah, you shouldn't watch this film, you might have another mental breakdown. I wonder if Mrs. Palin has had any psychiatric evaluation since the 08 campaign, she's got some SERIOUS issues....

What liars they both are. We all know both of them will either watch it or have someone else watch it for them. How could you not wacth it. How can you comment on "the lies" if you don't watch it? For them to act uninterested in it is stretching it a bit. Never been a big fan of Palin but actually voted in the primary for McCain the first time he ran before he became a republican puppet and picked Miss P for a running partner. They both turned out to be pretend people. Glad she and he never made it to the White House.

It seems that Palin was even dummer than that bucket of rocks. She will fizzle this time, and we won't have to see her face on the tube after this one. Fox will drop her as soon as her contract is up. Bye Bye Governor pitbull.

They haven't watched the movie? Who are they trying to kid ? Of course, they've seen it, Please! Trying to convince people not to believe something that they themselves haven't seen, means they were both there and they know that the very person that chose her had buyer's regret, and that having chosen her as his running mate cost him the Presidency. I bet she is a bitter pill every time he sees her or hears her on Fox or any other venue.

Here's some straight talk for ya McCain.......that "liberal left" that you say made this movie.......wanna know who their advisers were? Steve Schmidt and Nicole Wallace. Sound familiar? They should......they were you campaign managers.

Why would Democrats who profess obedience to Obama and progressive ideology release a movie about Republicans in an election year then claim there is no objective?

PatrioticUSGlory Spin all you want it was the REPULICANS working with Palin in the McCain campaign that the story was brought up. Let Palin sue if she continues to lie about it not being true, McCain has never used the words this movie is NOT TRUE.

I have no empathy for McCain or Palin. Even if the left constantly mocks and belittles Palin, she is not lied about the way that the right does our President. They lie and twist everything that he does, attacking his birth certificate for no reason, calling him a Muslim supporter, a communist, a socialist, a Nazi or anything else that they can think of. Never has any President been treated so badly. Even now they are trying to paint him as waging some myhtical war on religion. If Palin can not face the scrutiny that her campaign brought (it caused her to resign as Governor of Alaska before the script for this movie was even written) then how on earth could she ever stand the pressure of being Commander in Chief. I shudder to think that she could have been a heart beat away from the Presidency. If this Republican campaign is teaching us anything it is that few men or women have what it takes to do the job. Bachmann, Cain, Perry; all totally inadequate, no matter how much money was thrown into supporting them. The same will be said for Santorum, Paul, Gingrich and yes, even Romney. All deeply flawed candidates pushing deeply flawed ideas.
forreal1953: I have no empathy for McCain or Palin. Even if
Never has a president been treated so badly? Short memory on your part. GWB was treated even worse. Just watch the replies I get for saying so. And the media, they were attack dogs against him.
You have no empathy, of course not. It's OK to mock/belittle/call conservative women (men) names (worse than what Rush did) because it comes from the left. Do I need to tell you what Bill Maher, Kathy Griffin etal have said about the Palin women?
No one ever said Palin can't take the scrutiny. You are assuming that because she is not going to see the movie that she can't take the heat. She is however free to defend herself, no? Stop listening to the left propaganda about why she resigned. She did her state a favor because it was costing $$ to defender her and a major distraction. See this story: http://www.startribune.com/nation/140202243.html
And your savior PBHO is not a flawed person/president. Give me a break.
