Obama Press Conference: President Holding First News Conference Of 2012 Tuesday

Obama Press Conference

03/05/12 09:36 AM ET  AP

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama will hold his first news conference of the year Tuesday, the same day his Republican rivals face off in 10 voting contests.

White House spokesman Jay Carney announced the Tuesday afternoon news conference on Twitter. Obama held his last full news conference in November during the APEC summit in Hawaii.

Tuesday's news conference comes amid an uptick in the U.S. economy. But the Obama administration has found itself dealing with several pressing foreign policy concerns, including the violent government crackdown in Syria and rising tensions in the Middle East over Iran's disputed nuclear program.

When up against teapublican's "superfools day", yes it is. At least you are likely to hear something worth listening to at President Obamas news conference..
10:33 AM on 03/06/2012
When has obama ever said anything worth listening to, I didn't get that memo. Teapublicans work for a living, fleecebaggers (fleece, to con or trick someone out of their money) vote for a living.

Hey, "progressives", lefties, Democrats, "liberals"....where are all the pictures of your revered Obama in his formative years, with Community Organizers, Communist Party members, William Ayers, Rev. Wright, and all of the people who he hung around with? Where are the links, with all these people, and detailed descriptions of their backgrounds? I saw nothing when he ran for President, now that his policies reveal his moral sanctimony, self-anointed expertise and abuse of government power to cram them down the throats of we the great unwashed, its time those that helped shape his views be brought to the fore.

After all, your Obama re-election campaign celebrates what he's all about, and what you people love about him, isn't it? Well, let's have full disclosure, and share it all with the rest of us, so we too can worship the golden calf of his ideology.

Just because the crack pipe is new, doesn't mean you have to use it all day. Tends to lead to paranoia.

Then don't vote.

Wow, such a big head, but nothing in it. When you get a clue Philclock, you will be amazed. Vote Obama in 2012!
10:43 AM on 03/06/2012
OPMS (other peoples money spenders) voted for obama in 2008, they will agian in 2012 because obama has increased their ranks. What will obama do for you when he runs out of other peoples money. In your world getting a clue is learning how to get someone else to pay all your living cost, by learning how to work the system.
12:48 PM on 03/06/2012
Oh, really, and what "clue" have YOU "gotten", that you "gotten", that you're willing to share, that comforts me with the feckless Obama and his tin-pot Democratic Party socialists in power? How does this enhance our freedoms, free markets and consumer power?

Please explain...
02:40 AM on 03/06/2012
Ha! Obama is feeling the heat. Romney pulled ahead of him today 49%-47% in the ABC/Washington Post polls. Obama's unfavorable rating re the economy is at 59%.

For him to step on the GOP Super Tuesday just shows his true colors and will lose him even more votes. No one appreciates an underhanded scoundrel.

Why do you libs just have one three letter word in your vocabulary...lie? No...it's in the news, on the computer...on many stations and sites. Romney pulled ahead of Obama in the national polls. Because you want it to be a lie...doesn't mean that it is.

How dare the president report on a bit of good economic news and update the country about the status of a few serious foreign policy challenges during the GOP Blue Ribbon Clown Show and Rodeo.

He's being so...PRESIDENTIAL.

Watch em' squeal like stuck pigs because he's doing something they would have done to him if the roles were reversed. Might as well feed their base some "Truth (Peas) & (Crow) Facts" before they hit the polls and vote.

More MSM questions that ask nothing. More 15 minute answers to the questions that answer nothing. Yawn. Here are a few suggestions: So how is Bo? How is Michelle? How are the kids? That should do it. Massive coverage of the news conference to follow.

Isn't this dirty, to hold a press conference on a day Republicans are holding their primary? I am a progressive, but I don't want the president to play dirty politics, if he wouldn't play dirty against the banks and their foreclosure cabal.

When you do it to deflect or distract, or to use another's position in the government to influence an upcoming election, that's when. Like former Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge, who said after leaving the Bush administration:

"...Former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge claims in a new book that he was pressured by other members of President George W. Bush's Cabinet to raise the nation's terror alert level just before the 2004 presidential election.

Ridge says he objected to raising the security level despite the urgings of former Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and then-Attorney General John Ashcroft, according to a publicity release from Ridge's publisher. He said the episode convinced him to follow through with his plans to leave the administration; he resigned on Nov. 30, 2004."

Not dirty politics if you are just stating accurate facts and truth.
That's what he's going to stick to.
But I bet the GOP Republicans won't be so nice, and will be telling outright lies and mis representing facts.

Republican failures = attacking the wrong country after 9/11, not being able to track down and punish those responsible, claiming victory in a war that went on for more than 10 years after the claim, failing in their "only" effort made in the last three years (trying to destroy President Obama's presidency), failing to do one da-n thing that has benifitted the USA since the tea party started pushing the republicans around, failing to find a viable candadate to run in 2012, selecting Newt Gingrich to represent the supposed moral majority, having nothing but namecalling as a party platform. I could go on, but my point is made.

"Obama coincidentally chooses Super Tuesday to give his first press conference in three months"....cool. He's one step ahead.
Oh, by the way Wingers?, do you think it's any coincidence that the Secretary of HHS announced August 2nd that insurers must offer female preventive health services without extra costs to patients, causing the firestorm that followed? It has been in the AHCA since it passed and was signed. What? No one in the Republican party READ THE BILL? President Obama had no intention of NOT adjusting the rule to allow exemptions, he just laid it out to watch Republicans grab onto it like a vulture on roadkill. Smart Catholics knew this. But it was fun to watch Republicans (especially Santorum) try to rework it to make it a Freedom of Religion issue. I have a cat that plays with birds in the same way, and then when he's done playing with them....chomp.

Obama is just throwing the MSM a fish, on Tuesday.

After all, most races will be called within the first few minutes after the polls close (and only because the MSM is showing some decorum, and not calling it before the polls close). Obama will give them something to focus on instead ... some Bag(R) bo(R)edom filler ...

Oh, you mean we're going to hear about something real tomorrow, as opposed to nonstop nonsense from those four Republican clowns who were born yesterday by immaculate conception?

Like we're not going to have to listen to how we need to bomb Iran on January 22 but assassinate their scientists earlier, why lunar landings are suddenly going to be in Republican budgets, the fun of watching 11 million people line up in queues to self-deport themselves, going back to the gold standard unless you prefer silver, the advantages of 10-year-old janitors, how jobs will be created from pumpkins, new lemonade recipes, why we actually need to education whatsoever, why women should be very happy to be third-class reproductive chattel, and how it's really ok that Mormons posthumously baptize dead Jews? (Yes, that WAS redundant! Didn't want to cause any confusion!)
