Vermont may only have 17 delegates up for grabs on Super Tuesday, but that doesn't mean it won't play a role in determining the eventual Republican presidential nominee.
While little official polling has been conducted in the state, according to The Huffington Post's polling expert, Mark Blumenthal,, it seems somewhat likely that former Massachussetts Gov. Mitt Romney's influence in the region may swing the state his way. According to the Bennington Banner, a small early February poll made him a favorite with 34 percent. However, as Blumenthal notes, polls such as that may be too dated and limited in scope to accurately predict the outcome in the state.
Despite being a smaller state in terms of delegate count, Vermont actually could play a relatively large role in eventually selecting a GOP candidate, due to its primary process. Vermont Public Radio explained that because a candidate needs at least 51 percent of the vote to claim all of the state's delegates, an even remotely close race could divide those votes dramatically.
While there aren't huge numbers at stake, every little bit helps in a close race.
