Martha Bandy, a Stanwood, Wa., resident, doesn't view her recent birthday as any reason to slow down.
The 100-year-old volunteer is still giving back and sees it as part of her DNA, according to Heraldnet.com.
"What you call volunteering is just a way of life," Bandy told heraldnet.com. "It's instinctual."
Brandy regularly delivers meals to the residents of her senior apartment complex who don't get out much. Formerly, she would devote her time in small ways -- making and collecting clothing for newborns in the hospital where her daughter worked and offering her sewing skills to nursing homes.
Brandy is among the ranks of other inspirational woman who have been recognized for their dedication to giving back through the years.
Myra Farr was honored at the age of 95 by former Florida Governor Charlie Crist for her decades of service through the National Council of Jewish Women, where she volunteered with programs that help troubled children, abused women and homeless families, NBC Miami reported.
“Myra is such a one-of-a-kind spirit, spending more than five decades helping others and making her community a better place to live, work and play,” said Governor Crist. “The longevity of her commitment to volunteering and helping women, children and families is inspiring, and I am so proud she is a Floridian.”
Another super volunteer, Dorrie Aber Noyek, spent her 105th birthday, doing what she's always done: volunteering.
Noyek was honored for her 38 years of service at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Fla., where she picks up and delivers mail, NBC Miami reported.
"Volunteering has been important to me for as long as I can remember," Noyek told the news outlet. "I feel I want to give back. I think I'm very fortunate, very lucky, very blessed."
