I like the show, but NBC's too many commercials every five minutes destroys any continuity.

So let me understand the progression of the storyline of the "Karen (Ms. McPhee's)" character:
(I stopped watching after about 10 minutes of the second episode because of the  nonsensical plot twists and the overwhelming amount of clichés in the dialogue, so I may have missed something)

At the start of the series Karen was a waitress barely making ends meet.

Now Karen is in the chorus of a Broadway show making about $1800 a week ($1703 minimum for chorus, plus and assumption of a 6 month rider ($66) and a six month extension ($33) to assure that she not leave the show for 12 months). (per Actors Equity)

And she again is having troubles making ends meet???

Is there an "Overspenders" 12 step program written into the plot at a later date?

Or have I missed something by not watching?

It's not a Broadway show. It's a workshop. Probably getting a few hundred a week, if she's union. She may not have to be depending on the classification.

1. Yes, she does have to be or become a member of Actors Equity if she is in a workshop (as they have other members of Equity in the cast).
2. So she does need a "second job" because she's making $714.00 per week.

Great cover. Haven't watched the show, maybe I'll check it out (Florence brought me here).
