Christie Brinkley Divorce: Peter Cook Says Ex Is Trying To 'Publicly Castrate' Him

Though Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook divorced four years ago, their acrimonious custody battle just won't end.

On Wednesday's "Nightline," Cook sits down with ABC News' Elizabeth Vargas to counter Brinkley's claims that he owes her child support and has sent her bullying emails -- and to accuse the former supermodel of trying to "publicly castrate" him to drum up publicity.

"I'm not here to attack Christie Brinkley, but to defend myself, because to be called a dead beat dad -- to me -- is such a horrible, spiteful, vengeful thing to say, despite the fact that its not true," Cook said in the interview, previewed on "Good Morning America" Wednesday morning.

Their latest public court skirmish began in November 2011, when 58-year-old Brinkley filed a motion seeking fines for Cook's "inflammatory communications," including bullying her via email. On February 24, Cook fired back by filing a cross motion accusing Brinkley -- who he called a "narcissistic egomaniac" -- of publicly smearing him in attempt to garner publicity for herself. In addition to reiterating that claim in the "Nightline" interview, he blasted Brinkley in the comments section of a New York Daily News' article on Monday, where he wrote, "Brinkley initiated the current court action, and timed it to generate publicity for herself to promote [her role in the musical] 'Chicago.'"

Brinkley has also accused Cook of failing to pay $32,000 in child support for school and summer camp fees. Cook, however, takes issue with her claims. "She filed a claim that I wasn't paying child support when she took off to do broadway last year, from March to July, but she put the children in my full time care," he told Vargas.

The former couple split in July 2006 after 10 years of marriage. Their tumultuous divorce -- which Brinkley fought to keep open to the public -- became a media frenzy centered around Cook's reported porn addiction and affair with then 18-year-old Diana Bianchi.

I believe Matt Lauer was too hard on Christie on the Today Show because I can totally relate to her situation.. Narcissism is a personality disorder that is frustrating to all -- the person who has it does not realize it and the other person tries to use reason and rationale to an irrational person so it's lose-lose. If I recall, Jack (Mr. Brinkley) had an affair that Christie wouldn't/couldn't forgive and she chose to move on. He lost a beauty and the goof life. She never accused him of child abuse and kids need a father figure so he should want to take them without complaint when she is working . I am sure she's bitter also about the two-plus million dollars he was handed for marrying her and ultimately cheating on her and now expects him to do his fair share that is Court order by paying his meager support. The sad thing to all of this is that when it is over and done and the kids are grown and scorned, it is looked at as such a huge wage of time!!!!! Like I said, I know first-hand.

Narcissism is a big problem.I believe it's a mental disease settling in to our culture.I've recently experienced an end to a 28 year marriage.I have realized that she was never fully invested in the relationship.(Hindsight).I was blinded by my Love adoration and trust.We had a wonderful adventure.We have raised 3 wonderful children.BUT,she suddenly ended our marriage.Apparently I am not useful to her anymore.Anyway,my point.My biggest shock or surprise is most advice to someone like me is to become focused on yourself.Self help books,12 step programs are all self involved.These programs are a form of mind control,meant for good but dangerous to the subjects other relationships.The programs play right to the narcissist.Taking them deeper into the self involvement.So I'm supposed become self involved,a narcissist?A narcissist can't see their narcissism because they are a narcissist.(forest for the trees) They can't honest or real cause they are fooling themselves.It's sad but I believe our society is tilting toward narcissism."Jesus wants you to be rich" did these people ever read the Bible? DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU. Sadly, I guess there is no cure for narcissism.

Ms. Brinkley appears overly narcissistic behind a veil of aging cover girl. She clearly takes meticulous care of her physical self through exercise, nutrition and (in the opinion of most) cosmetic surgery. Good for her, I say, and her choice, absolutely her choice, and her physical result is stunning.
She chooses to be on the road performing in musicals with no formal training or background in musical theater; interesting choice but again it is her life and her celebrity, more power to her.

She is not physically present when she is away.

Her publicist is very skilled in creating unilateral leverage for a situation right now that clearly has two sides. I think most people can see through the unilateral spin.

It isn't right that Christie dumps the kids with him for months at a time and then expects him to pay her child support - which he did. This is clearly a publicity stunt for her upcoming role in Chicago. It is clearly not about his indiscretion that happened well over four 4 year ago, not yesterday - get over that and focus on the real issue - the kids! Her making this public just to get publicity is 1000 times more immoral for the harm it is perpetrating on the children.

I have to laugh at the many hypocrites that call him all kinds of names for his indiscretion; why not criticize her for her own cheating? She should also have to suffer for her own cheating for the rest of her if anyone thinks he should. Plus, it was his first marriage - her 4th! Do you think that maybe she has had a pattern of marital failure? Humm, I wonder why? Oh yeah, that's right - all males are evil and it is OK for women to cheat. Righhhhtttt!

Looks only go so far - who'd want to live with someone who is a vicious, vindictive, absent wife and mother and hypocritical cheater?

I worked one summer for Christie back in 1999. I did sign a confidentiality agreement so I can not talk about anything that ever happened, but I can and will say I loved working for Christie. She was so nice to me and treated me very well. My 24th birthday was in the summer I worked for her, and she surprised me with scuba diving lessons. She was really into her kids, Jack and Sailor were little at the time. Alexa was 16 and around a lot but was a pretty independent girl - her and Christie were super close. Peter was hardly ever around but when he was he whined all the time. Years later Peter has an affair with someone young enough to be his daughter and he has the nerve to cut Christie down!? Peter, you're more jealous of Christie now than you were back when I knew you!

You guys dont get it. She sued me for non-payment of child support even though I was paid in full! And until she left town to do Broadway for 5-month and I had the kids full time, I paid her in 6-month chunks, IN ADVANCE. And she calls me a "Dead beat Dad?!" She falsely sued me over a (PAID) $1,250. a month support payment while on her way to a $5,000. A DAY Caribbean Spa. She is an embarrassment to women around the globe who depend on their child support to feed, cloth and house their childen, and have to deal with truly ded beat dads.

Well, you embarrassed her with the baby girlfriend so now she wants you to pay for it... forever. If you have records proving you paid then what's the problem? If you did not pay during that time the kids were with you and there isn't a clause in your custody/divorce contract covering that specifically then you did not pay your child support. You need to have your custody contract redone and have it state that if the kids are with you for X amount of time over X days then child support is void, yada yada yada. Where's your lawyer during all this? You should have contacted him/her as soon as the kids were dropped off with you when she left to do the play. Never assume anything, God created attorneys for a reason. Now, turn off the porn and go call yours.
