Jessica Simpson Nude Pregnant 'Elle' Cover: Singer Reveals She's Having A Girl! (PHOTOS)

April's issue of Elle features an attention-grabbing cover star: a very pregnant Jessica Simpson cradling her belly in the nude.

It's not like the "pose in the buff while pregnant" trope hasn't been a thing in the past: there's Demi Moore on Vanity Fair, Britney on Harper's Bazaar, Cindy Crawford on W and on and on. But still, we're a little surprised that Simpson, who's kept her bump pretty covered up, is joining their ranks.

In addition to posing for an adorable photo shoot (there appear to be two covers, one nude and one featuring Jess in a red dress), rumored billionaire J Simps also dropped some major baby news -- she's having a girl!

The singer and "Fashion Star" host tells Elle that she's hoping her daughter will develop a keen eye for style.

“I swear, I will croak if she asks me for a pair of Nikes instead of Christian Louboutins!” Jess declares. She also says she's worried that fiance Eric Johnson's love of sports will rub off on their new child: “Eric is so athletic. We’re gonna have this athletic girl and I won’t even be able to take her shopping.”

This craze about "baby bumps" is disgusting...spelled t-r-a-s-h-y. Women brag about having a baby without being married. Maybe someone should invent a video game about morals, the good ones, then perhaps people might get interested in it again...or, there is an app for that...a moral app.

Lovely.

As much as I applaud Jessica and these other women being largely unafraid in baring nearly all on the covers of magazines, I wish our culture would allow a freer, less guarded pose.

I don't understand why women have to flaunt their guts when pregnant much less pose for photos. I have friends that have done same thing and it's disgusting. Attention pregnant women, we are not interested in observing your huge belly! It's gross!

This is getting soooooooooooo old. Demi Moore did it first and much better. However, I will say that Jessica looks much better naked that clothed lately but I'll betcha her nudie preggy pix are totally photoshopt--otherwise Elle would have needed a fold-out cover.

OK- I'm all for these pictures, but I still find it pretty awkward to look at haha. Especially that my boyfriend saw it and was oogling- I was like "STOP SHE IS PREGNANT!" Not out of jealously- out of respect that I feel like pregnant women should not be sex symbols. BUT power to her! She looks great. Congrats to her and her hubby (or boyfriend)... :)

I think it is good for all women to know they are beautiful when they are pregnant. I think these types of photos are affirming a a woman's beauty with or without swelling with a new life. What could possibly be more beautiful?
