Meh Romney: No One Seems To Really Like Mitt (VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/ 7/2012 9:52 am Updated: 03/12/2012 2:02 pm

No one ever said he had Obama's charisma. But still, you'd think at least Mitt Romney's endorsers could muster some enthusiasm for a three-minute TV appearance.

But no. Ever since he announced his candidacy back in June, Republican voters, statesmen, and pundits across the country have found the prospect of a Romney nomination inevitable, but utterly uninspiring.

Videos on YouTube and other websites show Romney's endorsers (and there are many) explaining why they think he should be president. And if you watch a lot of these, you'll notice the same lukewarm praises come up again and again: Capable. Electable. Able to beat Obama.

"There's no such thing as a perfect candidate," said South Carolina Governor and Romney endorser Nikki Haley told Fox News in January. "[So] you say let's get on track, let's get behind the person and let's make it happen."

Add to that: All of Romney's endorsers who are on record railing against the former Massachusetts governor's policies. Tim Pawlenty, John McCain and Donald Trump, among others.

Watch the video above to see a mashup of lackluster reactions to Romney's candidacy. And tell us, do you have strong feelings about Mitt?

I keep hearing GOP spokespersons saying that, when the time comes, the party will "coalesce" around Romney.

Am I the only one who thinks that sounds a little..... kinky?

Let us summarize these posts. Romney is boring, has no sense of humor,is weird. All succinct and well thought out reasons to not vote for him. Good God we have a generation of fools raised on video games and instant gratification as proof in their reasoning. Self indulgent and self centered. Absolutely no idea of how or why just regurgitate the pablum of the left. Wouldn't know a venture capitalist if they slapped them in the face. Have no idea of how they work. Give me a man who knows how to create jobs and straighten out the messes left by mismanagement and fire the guy who reads a teleprompter like a pro.

I for one am excited about Mitt Romney. He seems to have a plan with our economic woes and has been a successful CEO and politician. In fact, after watching the video, I am more and more convinced that mainstream media outlets are so disconnected from the average American that I do not trust FOX News or CNN. I do not need a glamorous or controversial candidate for president. America needs a leader. The truth be known, I think the American government has become a little too big and unwieldy.

Mitt Romney IS controversial, - Barack Obama IS NOT. Romney is NOT in the best interests of America. He is in the best interests of corporate big business which has created the problems that we have. A LACK of government is not the problem. We need more government - and a healthy dose of more social democracy. Only someone who has never spent an extended time abroad living in other western, industrialized democracies would think otherwise, Socialism IS NOT a dirty word. Republican rhetoric is like a reincarnated Joseph McCarthy, and it's mouthpiece is Rush Limbaugh.

I believe that Romney is in the best interests of America because many of our citizens are employed by big businesses. Corporations did not create the problems that we are in now, individuals did. I disagree with you. We do not need a bigger government. All of the sudden people were blaming lenders for decisions that were made by the individual. I choose not to move to Europe because this is my homeland. As far as not having travelled abroad, you have no idea who I am or what I do. I don't know who you are either. With your ability to jump to conclusions and make assumptions, if you are what a socialist is, I will pass. Oh, and I will not submit to a socialist government. There are many more like me in this land.

Mitt Romney's stated political opinions appear to depend upon which way the wind is blowing (the latest political poll), and that changes from day to day.

Does Mitt Romney have any consistent moral compass that he uses to form his opinions that he espouses to the public?

It's kind of hard to be enthusiastic about someone who has all the charisma (and will) of a marionette.

You know it only now occurs to me that Romney reminds me very much of Bob Dole in 1996.

The republican neocon party has gotten so extreme that any candidate that has been capable of getting the base excited turned out to be "unelectable".

Since the neocon party has worked so hard in the past 30 years to "cultivate the crazies", you can't blame the lunatic fringe base, that they also "cultivated", if they don't want a "sane" candidate.

In 2008, McCain had a good chance of winning the election...until the party foisted Palin on him for his VP. He was finished after that. Wonder who the party is gonna foist on Mitt once they get through cramming him down their base's throats??

What's that Biblical saying? What you sow, you reap!

In just one act she threw away the economic viability and competitiveness of her state by screwing two ports, giving the advantage to another state while receiving absolutely no benefit for her state and setting up a scenario of extreme and irreparable environmental harm. Considering her tough competion, it has been demonstrated that Nikki Haley is the dumbest person in the GOP and in all of politics. Consequently, if Mitt has to put her up front to rally the troops he is in trouble, but the GOP's troubles are even greater.

You must be the ONLY person on the planet with strong feelings about Mitt. I have to keep reminding myself he's in the race. He's the next most forgettable GOP candidate, right after Ron Paul.

Oh puggies. In all your delerium, and bubblism, you forget that you have to run against the real President Obama and not the made up characature youve created. I see you starting to accept your fate with Romney and some are even making up your own characature of him to make you feel less like your going back on your own principals. Frauds.

GOVERNMENT AS A BUSINESS

There is the other great repub MYTH , besides low TOP tax rates and regulation cost jobs, that Government should be run like a business! Anyone who says that doesn't know business or government.

They have completely different goals, so that means they can't be run the same.

Secondly, they have different accounting rules(accrual vs.fund accounting), because they are so different.

Thirdly, they operate under different economics. Business/People operate under Micro economics.

Governments operate under Macro economic models.

E.G., if a business cuts employment, wages or outsources, that can be great on its bottom line. If all businesses do that, then no businesses here are left with customers to buy their products, all businesses go down hill as does the country.

Same applies to deregulating pollution, saves some companies some money short-term, but can kill the tourist trade in Florida, raise healthcare cost for everyone and then there is the repair bill.

Or savings is good, but if all individuals save a lot, thats bad as demand drops, and all end up out of work!

Businesses aren't concerned with multiplier effects(see econ 101, and if you don’t know about multiplier effects , you should not be making economic comments, running for government..its that basic), but every government should be and why repubs are terrible at running an economy.

Individual/business goals don’t always align with the good of the country or themselves longterm and that’s where/why Government must step in.

Democracy 101: "...certain unalienable rights, that among them are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That, whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it... ...as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness"

“Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are Texas oil millionaires and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid”
