To close out the ACC regular season, North Carolina avenged a gut wrenching loss at home to Duke earlier this season by crushing its rivals at Cameron Indoor Stadium to win the ACC regular season title. Now, the Tar Heels might have a chance to play Duke for a third time this season if the two meet in the ACC Tournament championship game. And, if that happens, the Tar Heels would have a chance to avenge another loss.. the one in last year's ACC Tournament championship game.
In the 2011 ACC Tournament, Duke crushed UNC to capture its 10th tournament title in the last 13 years last year.
UNC earned the top seed in 2012, going 14-2 in conference play. It comes as no surprise that both are the favorites this year and have first-round byes. The other teams that oddsmakers tip to contend for the ACC Tournament title are No. 3 Florida State and No. 4 Virginia. Throughout the regular season, the Seminoles showed a flare for the dramatic, winning three games on last-second shots (two of which were on the road).
