The Chicago Flower and Garden show kicks off at Navy Pier Saturday, and will display 25 gardens inspired by high-fashion couture garments.

This year's theme, "Hort Couture," has inspired displays that incorporate sculpture, water, architectural ironworks and other elements to create a high-fashion aesthetic.

Gardens being showcased include an interactive replica of the White House vegetable garden, a "Days of Our Lives"-themed display including props from the soap opera's original set and a panel and fashion show featuring the original cast, a replica of Oprah's oak tree planted in the Navy Pier Gateway Garden and two tulip gardens that contain over 90 varieties.

But the event is about more than flowers. The eight-day expo will also sell eco-friendly products, coordinate Chicago's largest seed exchange, and offer a variety of cooking demonstrations to put that hard-earned produce to good use.

The show runs from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and ends at 6 p.m. on Sundays, from March 10 through March 18. Tickets are $17 on weekdays and $19 on weekends, though there's a discount for purchasing tickets online.
