Detroit fashionistas have surely been planning their outfits for months as they prepare for this Saturday's anticipated Fashion in Detroit show.

This weekend, the MotorCity Casino Hotel will become a couture haven as the 10 runway shows over the course of the day showcase new work from local and notable designers.

The event kicks off with a group show of teen designers and work from International Academy of Design and Technology of Troy students. It will end with a joint debut collections from co-hosts Denise Ilitch and Joe Faris, Denise Illitch Designs and Motor City Blues.

“We, will once again, transform the Motor City into Fashion City," Faris said in a statement.

Faris is launching Motor City Blues after splitting from the group that still owns his former line, Motor City Denim by Joe Faris, according to Crain's Detroit.

Started by Faris in 2009, Fashion in Detroit aims to highlight local designers like Emily Thornhill's Homeslice, a line of organic clothing produced in Corktown. A few national names will appear as well, like Nieman Marcus and Peter Soronen, most famous for his dresses for the First Lady.

A portion of the proceeds from the show will go to the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit.

Denim guru Faris and other local designers featured in the show -- including Emily Thornhill, Dana Keaton, and the designers of House of Martini and Brightly Twisted -- talked with HuffPost about Fashion in Detroit. Click through the slideshow below to see what they had to say about Detroit style, their inspirations, and to get a look at their designs.

The photo shows designs from an earlier Motor City Denim Co. collection, for which Joe Faris, former "Project Runway" contestant, was previously a designer.

Now, Faris is launching Motor City Blues at Fashion in Detroit, which he is co-hosting with Denise Ilitch.

CORRECTION: In a previous version of this story, Joe Faris was incorrectly referred to as a winner rather than solely a contestant on the television show "Project Runway," and the clothing in the photos were identified as belonging to the Motor City Blues line, not Motor City Denim Co.

Fashion in Detroit starts at noon on Saturday, March 10 at Sound Board in the MotorCity Casino Hotel at 2901 Grand River Ave., Detroit. For more information and tickets, see the Fashion in Detroit website.
