'Revenge' Scoop: Daniel's In Danger, Mason Returns And A Flashback Episode

'Revenge' Scoop: Daniel's In Danger & The Ultimate Flashback

"Revenge" may not be back with new episodes until April 11, the cast and creators of the ABC primetime soap were at the annual PaleyFest event on Sunday to give viewers some juicy details to tide them over until Emily (Emily VanCamp), Nolan (Gabriel Mann) and Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) return to our TV screens.

On of the biggest surprises that the cast and creators teased for the rest of Season 1 is that "Revenge" is going back in time -- but it's not your typical flashback episode.

“The way we’re treating it is that this is an episode of Revenge set in 2002,” explained showrunner Mike Kelley, according to TVLine. “We’re not setting it up like a flashback.”

"Revenge" star Emily VanCamp adds that the episode will give Emily "her first glimpse at these people who destroyed her family, when she’s still not quite believing her father and his journals. There’s a big event [that happens] at this New Year’s Eve party, and it really solidifies what her father’s been telling her… That’s sort of the beginning of her journey.”

But that's not all. The episode will go even further back into time -- to 1990, confirmed Madeleine Stowe.

Meanwhile, Mason Treadwell (Roger Bart) comes back to the Hamptons when Emily realizes they can use him to their advantage, reports E! Online. Emily's plan is to get Mason involved in Daniel's trial by having him report that it was Amanda who actually killed Tyler.

Speaking of Daniel, he's having a hard time coping in Rikers. Maximum security prison is a lot different than the Hamptons. He turns to Emily for help and writes her a letter, which happens to be similar to the letter Emily received from her wrongly-incarcerated father. While Emily tries to give him a few tips that she learned in juvie, it's Victoria that goes to the ultimate extreme to get her son of of jail.

Daniel's trial is not for another three months, so he'll be stuck in Rikers for that period of time, unless he's in a life-threatening situation. Unfortunately, for Daniel, that's exactly what happens to him.

However, he will ultimately find out that it was his mother who actually orchestrated his prison beatdown.

As for the end of Season 1, "Revenge" wouldn't be the primetime soap we all love if it didn't end with a shocking bang. If the show does get picked up for a second season, expect a big cliffhanger come season finale time. If the show is picked up for a Season 2, expect more of the same magic formula. The season will “set up [a mystery] in the beginning, pay it off in the middle, fall it out, and then set up some new stuff,” showrunner Kelley told the PaleyFest crowd.

"Revenge" airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
