"Desperate Housewives" (Sun., 9 p.m. EST on ABC) fans were teased, tormented and -- if they dared -- spoiled with the idea of losing one of their favorite residents of Wisteria Lane. This week's episode did not disappoint.
Of course, true enthusiasts of the show already knew who was going to die, thanks to a reveal during Nicolette Sheridan's trial in her wrongful termination suit against "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry.
Nevertheless, it was a taut hour, with plenty of drama. Bree was trying to convince her neighbor Karen that she really did want to live, despite having cancer. And Gabrielle was convincing her husband that he needed to stop trying to give back to those people who've been hurt from his business practices, especially if it's going to impact her lifestyle.
While luring back in one of their daughters from the roof, Carlos got to take part in the penultimate death scare, but his wasn't the life that would be snuffed out too soon. Instead, as fallout for stepping in to help Renee when Ben's loan shark came after her -- or at least, that's how it looks -- Mike was shot on his front porch. His final act in this world? Pushing Susan to the ground to ensure her safety.
The fallout from this tragedy will reverberate through the final six episodes of "Desperate Housewives," which airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
