N.C. State Celebrates NCAA Tournament 2012 Bid On Selection Sunday (VIDEO)

N.C. State's Wild NCAA Tournament Celebration

During the Selection Sunday program on CBS, North Carolina State had to wait, and wait, and wait a little longer up until one last team remained for Greg Gumbel to call. Then, finally..

"And the fifth team out of the ACC, the Wolfpack of North Carolina State."

Coach Mark Gottfried and his N.C. State players erupted after hearing that they had reached the Big Dance for the first time since 2006, by way of an at-large bid.

N.C. State won two games during the ACC Tournament to put a record of 22-12 on their resume. But the Wolfpack never beat a top-25 opponent so it was far from a certainty that they would make the cut. To give more reason to worry, St. Bonaventure upset Xavier in the Atlantic 10 title game to snatch an automatic bid, which had many believing that the N.C. State would miss out on the tournament.

Nope. The Wolfpack are in as a No. 11 seed and they will be playing No. 6 San Diego State.
