Marlo Thomas checks in with the fetching fitness guru -- and the toughest, tautest trainer on TV.
If you could write a personal slogan that you live by, what would it be?
“Feel the fear and do it anyway.”
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
That’s tough. There are so many things I’d change. I should say patience, but that will come with time. So I'm gonna say cellulite, because I can't seem to figure out how to solve that one.
What is your greatest fear?
The death of a loved one.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
“Ya’ know” and “it’s like.” So annoying when I do that.
What is your secret dream?
To be a rock star.
Who is your personal hero?
My mom -- and then someone awesome like Einstein or MLK. I love a freedom fighter.
What is always at your bedside? In your purse? In your wallet?
Bedside: a book, a flashlight, a ponytail holder, a chap stick and a glass of water. Purse: I don't really carry one. I'm a back pocket kinda girl.
What do you collect?
Beach glass, old books, rescue dogs.
What is your obsession?
Reversing the farm bill. Seriously. I believe that if we can reverse that bit of legislation and start using our subsidy dollars towards organics instead of GMO crops that require herbicides, pesticides and toxic fertilizer, it would do wonders for our health, our economy and our environment.
What movie can you watch a million times without ever getting tired of it?
I love anything vintage Spielberg: Jaws, Indiana Jones, ET. Heaven!
Which of the seven deadly sins is your favorite?
I want to say lust, because it's clearly the sexiest answer, but truthfully I think it would be pride. I have a lot of pride, but the universe always finds a way to humble me.
What is always in your refrigerator?
So Delicious vanilla coconut milk, hummus, lettuce, pomegranate seeds, Pelegrino, Honest Tea, Ezekial English Muffins, almond butter, eggs.
When you’re watching TV, what makes you want to throw the remote at the screen?
What do you find sexy? What turns you on?
Humor. I used to think women were lying when they said that, but as I got older it became true. Humor is hot.
What brings you peace?
The beach. Writing. Reading. Motorcycle riding. Horseback riding.
Which song or songs would make the perfect soundtrack for your life?
This is impossible. I could go on forever -- and it depends on the day.
Who’s your favorite bad guy?
If you were a stripper, what would you choose for your stage name?
Cookie Midwick (the name of my first dog and the street I grew up on).
What’s the most useless piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“Think positive.” So stupid.
What do you remember most about your first kiss?
I think it was during a game of Spin the Bottle. I remember worrying that our braces would stick together.
